My 40th birthday is coming up and I want to splurge on a nice hotel for my family (me, hubby, and 4 year old and 6 year old). Here is what I am looking for: on the beach/short walk from the beach, balcony, and nice pool. I have my eye on Hotel Milo, Santa Barbara Inn and Harbor View Inn - anyone have any advice?? Are those good hotels?? Any other hotels I should be looking at?? Thank you!

7 helpful votes The Harbor View had been our family favorite hotel the last bunch of years. Across the street from the beach great for a family. The pool is nice and you can walk to Stern’s Wharf a block away. We get rooms behind the pool in the 3 story building. Views of the grounds and sunsets are fantastic.
We’ve stayed at Hotel Milo with family and liked the setting but they don’t have a/c and the pool is small.
Hotel Milo has large grounds with two small pools with breakfast included pre Covid19. Rooms are nice but it's not what I'd call a splurge, although prices may reflect that. Of the two, you probably want Harbor View.
Out of your choices Santa Barbara Inn would be the one to look at.
I would also consider the Mar Monte Hotel and Hilton Beachfront Resort - we enjoyed both with kids as a nice splurge.
If you really want to splurge there is a Four Seasons and a Rosewood, but those are on a whole other pricing level.
Hotel California and the Kimpton Canary Hotel are two other nice ones.
I like the Harbor View Inn especially the rooms with a balcony that overlook the water
I'd pick the Harbor View Inn or the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort (formerly Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort).
Harbor View is very nice! We enjoyed our stay there in a king ocean view room. 🏖
