We stayed at far west building. The floor condition is so old/bad that we heard a lot of noise from the people upstair. To be clear, the peole upstair is by no means runing or jumping, but we still heard and felt a lot of noise. Couldn't have a sleep whole night. This may be a common sympton for some hotels. However, for a Hyatt hotel that asking for at least $300 a night, I feel it is not acceptable. I will definely NOT recommend Unbound Mar Monte to anyone.

I've previously reviewed the Mar Monte (November 2020) but want to very belatedly provide an update. We were unexpectedly back again for a two-week stay in late November/early December due to a family emergency. Hotel staff knew we were stressed and every single person made a point to always ask how we were doing when they saw us. Their warm and welcoming smiles truly made a difference during a horrible time. During this time we pretty much ate everything on the Cafe Lido menu while also trying out local restaurants. The food is excellent. Certainly not "fine dining" but the flavors and execution were always excellent. Plus they have great cocktails. Juan Aguilar is someone we've know for several years now due to our travels down to Santa Barbara and he was as always awesome! Michael W. and Noam Tsivkin were also great and always a pleasure to run into. We are very excited to head back later this week and even though there will be other dining options open now we are looking forward to meals at the Cafe Lido. Location is also excellent right across the street from East Beach. Also within 1.3 miles of good food options both to the north and south (Montecito). We love to walk so it was perfectly situated for us, away from the hustle of State Street but also close enough that a car wasn't needed.

Room was clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Room near the pool was a challenge because of the noise. No counter in the bathroom (pedestal sink) was inconvenient, only towel bars were right next to the toilet (not where you want to hang a wash cloth or towel). Mattress had dips.

We did not have the use of our car which made it hard to get meals since the hotel is so far away from the center. After to Covid they closed the main dining room and it is still closed. Since the hotel looked busy it was hard to undeerstand this.

This is a quaint hotel directly across the beach. It’s been recently renovated. Loved the fire pits in the courtyard. They also offer free bikes to use to go downtown and on the beach path. Also kudos to the staff before & during our stay. Delphina at the front desk was so helpful & friendly. She went the extra mile in customer service when I called to make sure that I was able to secure an Oceanside courtyard patio room when making reservations for my birthday weekend. Delphina even called me the next day to confirm the specific room & reservations since I spoke with her before her shift ended the day before.

We were there over Labor Day weekend and the hotel is fine. Not the most updated property but clean. Honestly we were rarely in the room so it was no big deal. We had an oceanfront room on ground level and it was excellent location-wise. There was a wall around the patio area so private from the sidewalk. The hotel has a compact layout so everything was steps away. It’s far enough from State St so stays pretty quiet if that’s important.
