New Yorkers don’t eat the most bagels in the U.S., survey reveals

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Surprisingly, New York or New Jersey isn’t in the top five states for the most bagels eaten, according to a new survey.

Betway surveyed 2,000 Americans to get all the details on the nation’s “bagel preferences.” Hawaii comes out as the top state to consume the most bagels in a year, with Hawaiians eating around 142 bagels each year, according to the survey.

Utah is in second place with 128 on average each year, followed by Kansas and Maryland. New York ranked in sixth place, with 111 bagels eaten per person on average each year.

The survey also found that the average American eats 85 bagels a year, and bagels are popular among men compared to women.
