Warning: Many alliances on This list will be in the wrong places, or perhaps don't even exist. Please be weary that some of these military alliances do not mean that the country will help the other always because some alliances are only for a single cause. It will also be confusing to know if it's a defense alliance or not. Last thing is that some of these alliances are economic, not military because of human errors. Wikipedia is not always right, so you will need to double check some things, just in case. Anyways. This is the list of military alliances. A military alliance is an international agreement concerning national security in which the contracting parties agree to mutual protection and support in case of a crisis that has not been identified in advance. Military alliances differ from coalitions, which formed for a crisis that already exists. Numerous forms of military and defensive alliances have existed between states since early human history. This is a comprehensive list of the most important alliances.
