Qatar Charity (QC) has celebrated World Teachers’ Day, which is observed annually on October 5 to celebrate all teachers around the globe.
This year, World Teachers’ Day has been marked under the theme ‘Teachers at the heart of education recovery’ amid the continued Covid-19 pandemic.
As part of Qatar Charity’s attention towards teachers, it provides sponsorships, implements qualitative educational projects and signs agreements with United Nations organisations to protect education in crisis-stricken areas.
"Qatar Charity made a qualitative achievement during the coronavirus pandemic, launching 'Noon’, a first-of-its-kind remotely teaching and training platform," QC said in a statement. "Qatar Charity has organised Holy Qur'an learning courses in co-operation with qualified male and female teachers. Besides, it continues to organise developmental training sessions for teachers and supervisers of the Holy Qur’an courses held under the 'Noon' platform."
QC is also keen to support Assalam Schools in Qatar. It has signed a co-operation agreement with Education Above All (EAA) Foundation to run the fourth Assalam School for five years.
"Qatar Charity is one of the leading organisations supporting education and teachers around the world. In the field of education, it works in more than 30 countries around the world. Qatar Charity has also contributed to the World Refugee School initiative as a founding member of its global board of directors," the statement points out.
QC has signed several agreements with international organisations to protect education in crisis-stricken areas. Its pact with Unicef in Somalia included building and rehabilitating 10 schools, providing school requirements for 60 schools, in addition to teachers’ training.
Besides Qatar Charity has so far sponsored more than 2,700 teachers in several countries of the world.
The statement further notes that QC implements education projects in emergencies in Turkey, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Yemen and Indonesia.
"Qatar Charity has worked to support education in conflict-stricken areas. It has joined several initiatives like the QUEST initiative. Schoolteachers and principals are provided with training according to the standards of the International Network for Education in Emergencies, in addition to building the capacity of teachers in Syria," the statement adds.
Qatar Charity has established teachers’ training centres with a value of more than QR5mn in co-operation with the Ministry of Education in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
