I am by no means a representative of the entire slavic Europe, HOWEVER.
Of all the things my mind could latch on, it was that coffee machine. Which slav with any self respect would use that coffee machine? We make our coffee in jezve, not in those American coffee pots. I am bewildered that of all the things I could yell about I pick a fucking coffee machine.
That out of the way, Ted Raimi, I love you.
Intense, emotional, visually stunning, and performances that would rival A24’s entire catalogue. Of course none of the cast shines brighter than the Man with the Screaming Brain himself, Bruce Campbell.
1995-2007 was a slump time for bruce campbell, we all know this, and i thusly feel no obligation to defend him. i will defend ted raimi, though, because his silly little subplot is the only thing that didn’t make me want to die
The film isn't very good, a winsome kind of Corman manque largely buoyed by Campbell's turn. But I'll always treasure seeing it, because I got to ask the finest chin in Hollywood a question and he answered it in a way that was touching and then darkly funny.
I was with a friend at a screening hosted by Bruce. The audience was given a chance to ask questions, and I asked him, "What is the role you're most proud of, and the role you're least proud of?" He demurred to answer the first - he's had lots of good roles and was afraid he'd second-guess himself, or that word would get around of his answer and he'd risk offending someone…
