In deference to the old review by someone in 2018, as of 2021 the Jai Alai here is as good as anywhere if not better. Especially the H2H (head to head tennis style matches) that are very exciting to watch. The YouTube channel and the announcing is spot on and as good as any other professional sport. I would still prefer a standard size court with granite walls particularly for the doubles matches. But the short court does make the singles matches last longer. I would also prefer some standard 7 point matches or Spectacular 9 matches for the final games of the parimutuel programs so that skill rather than luck had a bigger impact in the outcome.

As I see it, the Magic City YouTube Channel is the only hope for the survival of Jai Alai once casinos are no longer required to have parimutuel betting in Florida. More needs to be done to promote this channel so that hopefully thousands or tens of thousands of people watch these matches on a regular basis instead of the few hundred there are now and hopefully greatly increase on-line betting, which I would love to do but cannot since I live in California which for some reason does not allow on-line betting on Jai Alai.

Lots of hand sanitizer and a temperature check make you feel confident that they care. Social distancing does not seem to apply to slot machines but even on a Saturday the casino wasn’t crowded. Poker room gives you a squirt of sanitizer when you join the game and cleans the table rail when you leave. 7 players per table with no dividers allowed for a good social experience. Constant high hand bonuses. Games were friendly but you will need to be fluent in Spanish to understand the table talk. Great place to spend a few hours.

I visited the poker room as I do once a month for some enjoinment Dec 20. As I was waiting for 1/2 poker seat I went and watched the other poker tables near the cashier. As I was watching in a table with 4 players I was stading 3ft away from table learning on how the game is played.

I never spoke other than to say I didnt wanted to play, but the female player sitting to my left an older lady was upset that I had my hands crossed... it was cold there tonight. But that gave her the reason to request I be removed far away from the table

I was not doing anything inappropiate nor I have said anything and I was being beey cordial. Few minutes passed and a lady there that was the floor manager told me that I cannot stand there and see the game, it wasnt allow due to the rules of the house.

I asked her to show me the rules of the house to make sure I wasnt violating or doing anything wrong and she bluntly said that she didnt have any rule book that I can read. This to make sure I didnt do anything that can potentially be thrown out. She explicit told that if she said or made out any rule she has the final word and thats it

I think its unreal what just happened , there wasnt anything posted nor a rule book I could read and follow. In disbelief I eneded up leaving your stablisment after the embarrassment of what had transpired.

Bad customer service, horrible management

Stayed at a nearby hotel within walking distance. The casino seems to be for older Latino and Spanish speaking people... not very friendly either. Got lots of stares, glares, and no greetings, even though I greeted my seated neighbors. No one would move out of the aisles, either if you wanted to walk through. Selection of slots was mediocre, and they were not very clean... LOTS of cigarette ashes on all of them. We did order food and sit outside in the arena to eat it, and the food was good. Slots were somewhat friendly, and I left around $200.00 ahead.

If you were looking for a horrible casino to go to with poor customer service and losing your money in a machine by accident and then the casino not providing customer service with providing your reimbursement definitely do not go here. It’s a horrible casino the crowd is horrible the people are horrible and I cannot say one nice thing about this place. I highly recommend you never try this casino!!!

My cab driver recommended this Casino and he was right on the money! I spent an afternoon here waiting for a late flight. The staff were so friendly. They have a great variety of machines. The food is good and affordable. The slots were loose! Thanks for providing a great experience.

Was invited to the Sunday buffet. It is bad. Basic food, few selections many breakfast items and thats it.

Needs to improve right away. The casino is small. Mostly slot machines. Odds are not good based on what I saw. The buffet does have live music, probably the best thing there.. other than that, you may want to go somewhere else...

We had some time before our flight, so we played nickel slots for an hour or so. There were some fun games, but sadly, we weren’t winners. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Masks were not required in late August.

Magic City just began offering jai alai on a specially constructed court on the former Stage 305. Unlike a traditional fronton, the front and back walls are made of thick plexiglass (not the traditional granite). The sound of the pelota hitting the glass is just a loud “thunk.” And it does have a different effect on the flight of the ball.

Worst part: the players. These are not the usual experienced Spanish-Basque players one finds in other Miami area frontons. These are young men, primarily from the Miami area, who have been playing amateur jai alai for just a short time (less than a year for most of them). And it shows. Easy catches are often missed. Spectacular catches are few and far between. Too many overserves and underserves as well. The player roster only has around a dozen players, thus there are no doubles matches (the best type of game, in my opinion). There are only eight games on the card, and the same players appear in all the matches.

In summary, if you’re looking for great jai alai in a traditional atmosphere, in the Miami area, you won’t find it here.
