CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- North Carolina is four weeks away from the start of training camp, which will open on Wednesday, Aug. 4. It's been a long offseason since the Tar Heels competed in the program's first-ever Orange Bowl against Texas A&M in January, although the return of spring practice and an on-site strength and conditioning program after an offseason lost to COVID-19 was allowed for growth and competition.

Most importantly, UNC is taking the necessary steps to build upon its 8-4 (7-3 ACC) record in 2020 in hopes of winning the Coastal Division for the second time in program history and challenging Clemson for the ACC title in Charlotte in December. UNC head coach Mack Brown met with media members on Thursday for his summer press conference and covered a wide range of topics, beginning with name, image and likeness and ending with an update of potential breakthrough outside linebacker Desmond Evans.
