My parents have wanted me to receive a 'good Christian education' my entire life. The issue with that is that I have never been truly Christian. As an Agnostic going to a Lutheran School, I've felt like an alien. I have been required to take religion classes, make up devotions, and go to a chapel service once a week for all of my high school life. The teachers do not want to even consider the possibility that any of their students are not Christian, they assume everyone is. For these reasons, I have had a difficult time fitting in, making friends, or feeling like I'm a part of the school community.
However, despite the bad experience I've had with the school's culture, I have had a wonderful time regarding my academics. The teachers are all great at what they do, and I've been able to study many interesting things. I can say that the education I've received at Lutheran South will help me in my college studies.

I entered Lutheran South as a Junior. Coming in as a transfer student from a public school, it was a infinitely different. There are so many things I like - people, teachers, resources, electives, sports, schedule (college-like schedule), sense of community, organization, workload, homework system management, and Chapel are just a few I can come up with off the top of my head.
Teachers ad staff provide very personalized support and attention to students, the so called "Spartan Center" is a room where you can ask for help on any subject from teachers with years of experience and very still and wide knowledge in their respective domains.
Mentorship programs are to be remarked as well, transfer students get a mentor that helps you connect with others and help you get used to the school.
Extracurricular opportunities are many too, there are clubs for many fields I didn't think would even be a thing.

I think the only area that LuSo is lacking is in facilities, but that is rapidly changing with the building of the new fine arts wing and all new science and STEM labs. It's a great time to be a Lancer. The staff at Lutheran South are like no other as they care about every student and work very hard to meet each student at the student's level and work together to help each student find success.
