negf22 I thought they did a good job displaying how miserably and dark and dingy the Middle Ages were. I like the commentary at key points in the video. It didn't come across as intrusive. The Irish actor Mr Delaney did a fine job of portraying Luther. Was accurate in content based upon my past learnings. I found it free on YouTube. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Just saw this on PBS. What an excellent documentary! I had no idea the Protestant Reformation happened so fast across Europe. It certainly made possible the establishment of the United States of America 249 years later, for which I am most grateful! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Very informative docudrama on the life and work of the right man who came a long at just the right time to be swept into a world-changing history, also inspiring people as varied as Adolf Hitler and Martin Luther King, Sr. A team of scholars, deeply acquainted with this history appear in the iinterviews. Well worth your time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting, informative and entertaining. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Among the many great things to say about this production, the cinematography was extraordinary for a documentary of this nature. I really wish that its national broadcast received more attention in the (fashion-conscious) press, but the film itself will never expire -- lasting another 500 years and more, giving a definitive view of how people generally grappled with the Reformation on its 500th anniversary. I'm wrapping up my own version that will focus in on the 95 Theses themselves (releasing on the anniversary day at 95thesesfilm.com), but the scale and elegance of this PBS-distributed film - actually directed by filmmaker David Batty - is beyond compare.
