- Tim T7 contributionsA great way to educate your family on what our country went through to remain one country United under God! This hallowed ground and beautiful monuments recount the history of the pivatal battle of the Civil War.Written April 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - horthokieWinchester, VA4 contributionsA holiday must. Longwood does it right! Great food in the cafe. With the purchase of your timed entry ticket, you can stay as long as you like. We arrived about 3pm, had dinner about 5:30-6pm and stayed until 8:30-9pm. While it was very busy, we never felt it was too crowded.Written January 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JeanieBeanieDDouglassville, PA60 contributionsI'd planned to be here two years before the solar eclipse happened, even though I'd never been to Erie before, and, know what, it WAS the best place to be for the eclipse.
The peninsula is miles long and has several parking areas and great views on the bay side and the Lake Erie side. The lanes and bicycle/hiking trails are in great shape and very clean.
When we experienced the eclipse we enjoyed the whole range of experiences: the wind rose, the water got choppy, the birds began to gather to roost in the trees and the light was unreal - then totality. Wow! This was the best place for the eclipse.
We spent 3 days in Erie and Presque Isle is just the coolest thing. If I were here in the summer I'd be here AND in neighboring Waldimeer Amusement Park AND the Tom Ridge Environmental Center AND at Sara's hot dog stand - all right by the entrance.

And, as everyone else comments, the views are stunning!
We strolled the neighborhood briefly and hopped into a restaurant across fross the incline to enjoy a meal. Lazy late afternoon, the area was quaint and very nice.
Later we experienced driving the narrow and hilly streets of the area, and can't imagine how the locals manage. Tough job on that one!Written October 5, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. My wife and I hadn't been to Independence Hall since we were kids, so we took a detour on a recent trip back to PA and visited these sites. Independence National Historical Park covers many historical attractions in Old City and we were lucky enough to visit several of them. We booked a tour of Independence Hall (via recreation.gov) and it was a lovely tour. Our guide was knowledgable and entertaining and it's so humbling to be standing where The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution were signed and adopted. It really gives you chills. We also got to see the Liberty Bell and tour Christ Church. One of the highlights was definitely visiting Christ Church Burial Ground and seeing Benjamin Franklin's grave and Benjamin Rush's grave. There's just so much to see here and you really can't do it all in a day. I highly recommend coming here if you're a lover of American history!Written January 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kevin BMount Juliet, TN2,327 contributionsBushkill Falls is a lovely place filled with numerous waterfalls, extensive natural beauty, and lots of fun hiking. It's a privately-owned park, so National Park passes won't work here. There's a large parking lot and numerous concessions and shops around the parking lot. Tickets are $20/person and they're open from April 1st through Halloween.
The trails are very fun and there's lots of stairs so you can get a view of the waterfalls from above them and from the base of most of the falls. The trails are fairly easy and shouldn't be a big deal for most people unless they have a mobility issue. Make sure to bring water as well as summer in this part of PA gets humid.
Bushkill is a wonderful place and one that we've visited many times over the years. You'll have a great time hiking here!Written December 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. First, the Aviary is next to a beautiful park that had people walking and playing around -- beautiful neighborhood. We went toward the end of our trip so had to leave after about an hour but easily could have spent much more time there. The facility is designed to be very digestible, so you do not have to walk a ton but still get the quality and depth that the entire ecosystem has to offer. We were able to view a feeding and talk with a trainer on island canaries that was awesome.
The only thing I would recommend is that the biggest room with Tropical Rainforest wildlife only has one screen that has labels of the wildlife, so I would try to do some research beforehand or have a guide on your phone so you can see what you are viewing. Would recommend for people of all ages!Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They had an electrical issue and an elevator was out of order so you had to walk uphill a well made path to the top of the hill whee the zoo started. Zoo was clean and well laid out, several gift stores, a couple of places for snacks or food. A few of the animals weren't available to be seen yet, likely to the weather still a little cool out. Had a good time, and I would definitely go back again.Written April 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 5265wandaJarrettsville, MD876 contributionsWe are big fans of The Hershey Gardens. I think it is a comfortable walk to tour the gardens. Benches are placed along various paths so you can take a little rest if needed. The entrance fee is reasonable and you don’t need reservations. If you go during the weekdays you don’t have large crowds. Parking is close by however if it is busy you may have a little walk. Handicap parking is only available in a few number of spots. I noticed that it was easier at Hershey for touring if you have special needs. We watched everyone with special needs along with their help struggling to tour the other famous gardens. Pushing someone up the hills and getting around the crowds looked hard. They looked miserable and it was a real challenge. Hershey looks much easier to navigate. Restaurants are close by within short drive. A beautiful day.Written April 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kevin BMount Juliet, TN2,327 contributionsWe were lucky enough to tour the park last year on a trip back home to PA as I had never been here despite growing up in PA. We stopped at the Visitor Center to grab a map and we did a self-guided driving tour, which allowed us to stop and see all of the sites in the park and go at our own pace. It's quite a large historical park and it was very interesting to learn more about what these people went through during the winter of 1777-1778. We got lucky and came on a beautiful day and it was wonderful to just walk around and learn history. We loved coming here and would recommend this park to anyone who loves American history!Written January 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trail025389339513 contributionsWe had such a good experience! We had the full moon tour and got to hear the wolves howl! The bonfire and entertainment was a nice bonus.
