Luann is a syndicated comic strip that created by Greg Evans since March 17, 1985. New strips are released daily on GoComics.
Plot[]
The first comic strip. The strip was initially in black & white and the characters were drawn in a different art style than seen in newer strips.
Luann follows the everyday life of the titular character, sweet but naïve Luann Degroot, who lives with her older brother Brad, and her parents (Nancy & Frank). In the beginning of the strip, Luann is a 13 year-old-adolescent. The strip, often comedic, also focuses on personal aspects of her and her family and friends and touches on sensitive topics normal for girls that age including menstruation, relationships, school, illness, puberty, and various other storylines revolving around Luann and her family/friends. Over time, characters would age, move out, form unique friendships/relationships, graduate, and other advancements in their lifetime - however, the aging process is slow. In the span of 30+ years, Luann has only aged about five/six years and is currently attending college.
Initially, the comic strip was more about punchlines and comedy than storylines.
The first colored strip was published on Sunday, January 07, 1996. From that point forward, Sunday strips would be in colored while the rest of the week would be in black and white. This was eventually changed to all colored strips.
