A brush fire broke out just southeast of Los Angeles' beloved Griffith Observatory on Tuesday afternoon.
Griffith Observatory and the surrounding trails in Griffith Park were evacuated as firefighters addressed the scene. Photos show smoke rising close to the famous building.
The fire burned about six acres before firefighters were able to put out the blaze, NBC Los Angeles reported. The fire was put out an hour and 12 minutes after the fire was reported at about 2:43 p.m.
According to LAPD, a person of interest was detained near the site of the fire. The incident is still under investigation.
The brush fire comes just days after the fast-moving Coastal Fire consumed more than 20 homes in Laguna Niguel, California. The state's climate change-fueled megadrought helps wildfires spread more quickly.
