What we know so far:
- Karen Bass will be L.A.'s next mayor (and more people voted than ever before).
- The Board of Supervisors stays all women.
- Alex Villanueva is out as sheriff (by a wide margin).
- Republican Michelle Steel beat Democrat Jay Chen in the newly drawn 45th Congressional district.
- L.A. County turnout should land at about 44%, a bit improvement from a low mark in 2013 of 23%.
Stay here on this page to watch the results unfold. Keep in mind there are still about 25.250 ballots that still need to be tallied and some races remain tight.

LAist will share with you when NPR and the Associated Press have made a race call. When a race is called, it is not a projection. As AP notes, such a call is only made "when AP is fully confident a race has been won — defined most simply as the moment a trailing candidate no longer has a path to victory."

Please note that these results are not final, but they're getting close since we're past the Tuesday, Nov. 15 cutoff for mail-in ballots to arrive.
Isn't this taking a long time? Not really. Early voters and mail-in ballots have fundamentally reshaped how votes are counted and when election results are known — think of it as Election Month rather than just Election Night.
