  • Angels' Jo Adell: Homers, swipes bag in loss

Adell went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base Monday in a loss to the Orioles.

Adell produced the Angels' first run with a solo homer in the seventh inning. He then helped in the team's attempt to try to rally in the ninth, leading off the frame with a hit-by-pitch, advancing to second on a single and subsequently stealing third, though he was ultimately stranded there. Adell continues to receive sporadic playing time -- this was just his second start in the Angels' past six contests -- but he's done well when on the field, slashing .281/.314/.531 with two home runs, five RBI, seven runs and six steals through 35 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Reid Detmers: Takes first loss of season

Detmers (3-1) took the loss against Baltimore on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over seven innings.

Detmers surrendered four extra-base hits, including two homers, among the six knocks the Orioles managed against him, and he tied his season low with a modest four punchouts. Still, the southpaw registered his longest start of the campaign with seven frames to help the Angels stay close, but the team couldn't complete a ninth-inning rally that could have taken him off the hook for his first loss. Despite the defeat, Detmers has had an overall strong start to the campaign, posting a 2.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 34:10 K:BB through 29.2 innings.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Taking seat Monday

Drury is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Drury returned from a three-day absence with a hamstring injury to play all three contests of the weekend series versus the Reds, but he'll get a break Monday. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base Monday.

  • Angels' Luis Rengifo: Not starting Monday

Rengifo is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.

Rengifo had started the last six games and 11 of the previous 13, but he'll begin this one on the bench. Ehire Adrianza will be at second base, and Miguel Sano will handle third.

  • Angels' Jose Soriano: Blanks Reds, stuck with loss

Soriano (0-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over six scoreless innings against Cincinnati.

Soriano was excellent Sunday, setting a career-high in strikeouts over six scoreless. He's been a solid option for the Angels since moving out of the bullpen, having allowed one run and four hits with 13 strikeouts in his past two appearances (11.0 innings). However, he's had difficulties with control, walking eight batters in that stretch. Soriano's next start is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Twins.

  • Angels' Robert Stephenson: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Angels transferred Stephenson (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

It was recently announced Stephenson would undergo season-ending surgery on his right elbow, so it was only a matter of time before he moved to the 60-day IL. The 31-year-old joined the Angels on a three-year, $33 million contract in January but came into spring training injured and has yet to pitch for his new team.

  • Angels' Ehire Adrianza: Contract selected by Halos

The Angels selected Adrianza's contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

The 34-year-old joined the Halos on a minor-league deal in February and has joined the big club with Anthony Rendon (hamstring) headed to the injured list. Adrianza made just five appearances with Atlanta last season but got off to a hot start at Salt Lake in 2024 with a .992 OPS in 53 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Anthony Rendon: Lands on injured list

The Angels placed Rendon on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a hamstring strain.

Rendon suffered the injury during Saturday's game against Cincinnati and will be unavailable for at least the next 10 days. The Halos selected Ehire Adrianza from Triple-A Salt Lake to bolster their infield depth, though it'll likely be Luis Rengifo and Miguel Sano, who is starting Sunday, that fill in at third base.

  • Angels' Patrick Sandoval: Rocked for seven runs in loss

Sandoval (1-3) took the loss to the Reds on Saturday, allowing seven runs on six hits and five walks over four innings. He struck out six.

The big blow was a grand slam off the bat of Tyler Stephenson in the first inning after Sandoval loaded the bases on a hit and a pair of walks. Sandoval appeared to take a step forward his last time out with five innings of one-run ball against Tampa Bay, but this outing represents two steps backward. He now has a 6.75 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 24:14 K:BB through 21.1 innings this season.

  • Angels' Miguel Sano: First MLB homer in over two years

Sano went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a two-run home run in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Reds.

The long ball off Graham Ashcraft in the sixth inning was Sano's first in the big leagues since April 15, 2022. Sano missed the better part of two years after undergoing surgery on his left knee, and he got off to a slow start with the Angels this season, but he's suddenly up to an .808 OPS. He could see more time at third base in the short term after Anthony Rendon left Saturday's game with a hamstring injury.

  • Angels' Anthony Rendon: Hamstring feeling 'not too great'

Rendon said after exiting Saturday's game against the Reds that his left hamstring is feeling "not too great," Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rendon tweaked the hamstring on the first play of the game and had to be removed for a pinch runner. It certainly sounds like a stint on the injured list could be in the offing, but the Angels could wait to see how Rendon feels Sunday before making a decision. If Rendon does need to miss time, Luis Rengifo would probably see the most action at third base, with Miguel Sano also a possibility to be mixed in there.

  • Angels' Anthony Rendon: Exits game with hamstring injury

Rendon departed Saturday's game in Cincinnati with a hamstring injury, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Rendon led off the game with an infield single but then immediately had to be lifted for a pinch runner. It's unclear at this point whether an MRI will be required, but the Angels should offer more clarity on his injury situation after the game. While he hasn't hit for much power at all, Rendon has been productive over the last couple weeks, coming into action Saturday hitting .381/.438/.429 over his last 10 games.

  • Angels' Zach Neto: Takes seat Saturday

Neto isn't in the Angels' lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Neto went hitless in three at-bats and struck out twice during a loss in the series opener Friday, bringing him down to a .495 OPS through 72 plate appearances. He'll give way to Luis Rengifo, who will bat seventh Saturday.
