Debra Messing has written an emotional tribute to close friend Lori Davis who suddenly passed away at age 53.

Davis and the 'Will & Grace' star developed a true bond after meeting through Messing's ex-partner Will Chase. Lori, in fact, was Chase's ex-wife and the two were married for ten years between 1998 and 2008. They share two daughters, Daisy, 22, and Gracie, 20. Messing and Chase dated from 2011 to 2014 after starring on the TV musical series 'Smash'.

Debra Messing Remembers 'Chosen Family' Lori Davis Who Died At 53

Messing took to Instagram to post a series of pictures of her and Davis, smiling and hugging their respective children. The actress has a son, Roman, with her ex-husband, actor, and screenwriter Daniel Zelman.

"It’s not fair. You’re so good. So loving, funny, nurturing, loyal, open, optimistic, and ready to celebrate…anything," Messing wrote of Davis.

"And the mother to 2 spectacular girls who I had the opportunity to fall in love with, and who became the sisters my boy never had," the actress continued.

She added: "We loved each other’s children and in turn developed a beautiful friendship. We came to every school musical in Princeton, every Kidz Theatre production, we went to Broadway musicals together and she took them to Six Flags. It was special because it was entirely chosen."

Messing explained that Davis was part of her chosen family.

"We connected recently. She wrote a personal recommendation for my boy’s application to her college alma mater. I wrote letters for both of the girls’ as well. We rooted for each other. We sent singing happy birthday videos to each other, and she helped me celebrate my 50th birthday. We were chosen family," she wrote.

Davis was also remembered by Chase's current partner, singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson.

"I'll miss Lori," Michaelson posted a picture of her and Davis on her Instagram Stories.

"She called me wife. Which was funny since she was Will, my partner's, ex-wife," she added.

She continued: "She was kind. And funny. And silly. She was so supportive. Creative. Daring. Always a bright light in a dark room. We will miss Lori."
