In 2005 Afghanistan, Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg), Michael Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch) and Matthew "Axe" Axelson (Ben Foster) deploy on a mission of surveillance and to take out Taliban leader Ahmad Shah. Though spotted by goatherds, Luttrell and his team decide not to kill them. But one of the Afghans alerts a group of Taliban fighters to the invaders, and a terrible battle ensues, in which the SEALs find themselves hopelessly outnumbered and outgunned.

This was an endurance test. If you like watching people getting tortured for hours, this is the movie for you. Once again, war movies are hit and miss for me, especially when they're based on, or inspired by, real life events and people. Hollywood has a way of embellishing the truth for cinematic reasons and this movie is really no different. Hence the reason I strictly focus on the content the movie offers and not it's accuracy. That being said, this movie ranks high on my list. Peter Berg knows how to direct action in such a way that you feel each cut, scrape and broken bone. The cast did a stellar job making the moral quandary the film poses and consequences of the choice the characters make feel human and it's through Berg's expert lens we're forced to live through that experience with them. I left this movie exhausted, emotionally and physically.

I don't like how they portrayed the erratic wait these guys got in trouble, how can Navy seal which we all should have a lot of respect where standing by to be attacked, be so slow and unprepared to retreat fast. It doesn't make any sense, or maybe this move is more rushing to show the failure of a single operation.
