Holiday Fire Map 2018: Santa Barbara Fire, Goleta Fire Update

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Holiday Fire Map 2018 expanded overnight. The Holiday Fire, the Santa Barbara Fire aka Goleta Fire, was first reported only on LALATE late last night. So far, a path of destruction of residences is left. But the fire is at 60 acres burned, 5% containment.

The Holiday Fire started off north Fairview Ave and Holiday Hill Road, in the City of Goleta , in Santa Barbara County . Currently roughly 2500 residents are evacuated. In total 20-30 homes are destroyed.

Evacuation orders are unchanged. “Mandatory Evacuation is still in place. The area is not safe due to downed power lines and embers.” The Mandatory Evacuation Boundaries are La Patera to Patterson, north of Cathedral Oaks.

An Evacuation Center at Goleta Valley Community Center, 5679 Hollister Ave has been established. Officials add “large animals are being accepted at Earl Warren Showground and at County Animal Services and the Humane Society, 5473 Overpass Road. Small animals are being accepted at County Animal County Animal Services and the Humane Society, 5473 Overpass Road.”

Meantime Cathedral Oaks is closed from Carlo to Patterson. Officials add “An evacuation center has been established at the Goleta Valley Community Center 5679 Hollister Avenue, Goleta, CA 93117. 9-1-1 lines are jammed up; please only call if there is an emergency. Fire and public safety crews are active in the Goleta area with the #holidayfire. For fire information, call 2-1-1. To reach 211 outside of the 805 area code, call toll free to 800-400-1572. You can also text your zip code to 898-211 and they will call you back”.
