EXCLUSIVE: Liza Marshall is stepping down from her role at Archery Pictures, the London-based production company she co-founded with Kris Thykier.
It’s an amicable parting for the well-respected UK producing duo and Marshall will continue her role as exec producer alongside Thykier on Riviera, the Sky Atlantic Cote d’Azur crime series written by Neil Jordan, which Archery Pictures currently has in production. She will also remain on board for Peter Kosminsky’s (Wolf Hall) new four-part drama for Channel 4 and National Geographic about four British men and women who join ISIS in Syria.
“Liza has been a brilliant partner and together we have built an exciting business that continues to flourish,” said Thykier. “Both of our current productions are testament to her taste, creativity and dedication. I am excited to work with her on bringing these projects to life.”
Marshall said: “I am incredibly proud of the shows that we have developed during my time at Archery Pictures and I look forward to working with Kris and the team on our current productions and hope to continue to find ways to work together in the future.”
Prior to Archery, Marshall headed up Ridley Scott’s London-based TV and film production arm Scott Free UK and also was former head of drama at Channel 4.
Archery Pictures has been quietly building up an impressive slate under the direction of Thykier and Marshall. In addition to its TV slate, it’s currently in post production on John Madden’s Miss Sloane, starring Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong, Gugu Mbatha Raw, Sam Waterston and John Lithgow. The film sees Chastain play a brilliant but ruthless lobbyist who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her career at risk. EuropaCorp is releasing the title in the US on December 9.
Earlier this year saw the release of Archery’s Azerbaijan-set epic love story Ali & Nino, starring Adam Bakri and Maria Valverde and directed by Asif Kapadia (Amy).
The company has a number of film and television projects in active development with broadcasters and studios both in the UK and US.
