This is huge because I always thought the biggest stumbling block to a reunion was Anette never wanting to do one!
A big Nightwish reunion to celebrate the 30 year anniversary in 2026 would be very cool. As long as its also only a few shows, I don't think it would be an issue for anyone. The only one who might have to jump over his shadow a bit would be Tuomas.
Even on his side I see no reason to keep from reunion, especially given the fact he had already tried to invite Tarja, as someone mentioned before.
I heard that there had been some communication between Tuomas and Tarja, and it was a positive step for them, but I hadnāt heard anything about them working together again. Iām interested in hearing more.
Tuomas wanted to invite her to the last concert of the Decades tour, but Tarja wasn't available. I suppose there's no more bad blood between them, but they're more comfortable on distance with each other. I find it quite interesting that Marko managed to reconcile with her, whereas Tuomas didn't.
Tarja was recently asked what relationship she has with Tuomas. She replied that she has no relationship with him
I don't remember Tarja saying she was open to reunion. When she was asked about one joint tour two years ago, she said it is hypothetically possible but highly unlikely. And she didn't seem too thrilled to be asked that.
Just a few years ago we couldn't have imagined her touring with Marko. So nothing is impossible, but I also do think that for a reunion to happen Tuomas should repent to an extent that he might not be capable.

I don't think Tuomas is open to any kind of reunion. With Anette, Tarja or Marko. He never talks about it at all.

Thank you for the link. Quite sad, actually, they hadn't managed to reconcile back then, must have been Tarja's busy schedule. But it's good to know that request was even possible and there's no more bad blood between them.
Anyone will be open to any reunion as long as the decimal point is in the right spot.
Tbh I feel like the biggest obstacle to this reunion happening isnāt Tuomas. Itās the morons they call management.
The Gathering did a two night 25 yr anniversary show with all their former members so it would be awesome if Nightwish did one for their 30th. I figured Anette would be hardest to get to come back but if she is open to it then do it. Having Anneke come back for two shows wasn't a threat to Silje in The Gathering and having Tarja / Anette / Marko / Jukka / Sami come back for a one / two night show wouldn't be a threat to Floor / Jukka / Kai.
As for The Gathering, not actually ALL of the former members unfortunately. The ones from their second album were completely left out.
There is the big difference that the majority of members that left The Gathering did it without any major drama/fight involved (Anneke included), just personal or creative reasons to not feel like being in the band anymore but they were all still friends. Cant say the same about Nightwish...
So, Marko and Tarja are back together, Anette is open for NW reunion tour, and all in all, looks like all the drama have finally gone. It's warming, but should be taken with a grain of salt at the same time. Dunno about Anette, everything is possible and I see no reason why Tuomas wouldn't want to do it, at the end of the day their touring hiatus can't last forever. I'm sure they will come back and in this case they really need something special to fill the void from their long abscence.
About Tarja, it's relatable. We've already discussed that her solo career is number one priority for her and she has a pretty busy schedule. Besides, she's already booked with Marko for the next year in Curitiba and I think there will be whole tour as well, travelling for only one show in one city is not very profitable. However, 2026 is gonna be a special date for NW, so who knows. Let's see what the future will bring us.
The date in curitiba is the date that been cancelled in March. Isn't a tour, just a reschedule. Tarja is going to release her solo album hopefully in 2024, maybe in 2025 and she will going on tour on support it in 25/26

It's great to know that Anette is willing to participate in a possible reunion with Nightwish. However, the decision to actually make this happen is up to Tuomas. The timing for a 30-year reunion would be perfect in 2026, especially with the high demand for them to play live after the hiatus. However, I believe it would be more of a short leg than a full tour, something around four or five shows in selected cities around the world.
I am glad to hear it. Anette is positive, I like that about her. You can see that she has no problem with any of them. But I will repeat one Tuomas's apt verse:

Unfortunately for us all. But I will try to be positive like Anette. It would be great if Tarja, Marko or Floor at least invited her for some collaboration.
Really would like to see an Anette-Marko collaboration. I really liked the duets they did on their two NW albums together.
Funnily enough, I feel at this point there's a better chance of a tour or some shows that's like Tarja + Marko headlining, with Anette as the opener or something. I'd love to see some kind of reunion thing but I really can't see Tuomas going for it.
The thing is Anette has nothing to do with Tarja and vice versa. Marko got to work with her so it makes sense but for Tarja she's a stranger.

I believe the biggest obstacle, if there is one, is motivation. If we believe multi album deal means all new music then Nightwish are nowhere near done considering their album-tour-downtime-cycle.
So either someone has to keep on stacking money to the table until they can't say no, OR we wait until the bandmembers are old enough to get soft for the nostalgia of their youth and step over the egos.
Or a wild card third option and something bad happens, making it a now or never situationš¶

I saw Anette live with Nw multiple times and while she wasn't good live, the music was at its peak. 10/10 would see the band with her again just for that reasonš„°

Watch this video from The Gatherings 25th anniversary show. All former members on stage at the same time jamming out to the song they closed with. Anneke is their most famous singer and she doesn't even sing on it as it's a Silje song but appears to be having a blast on percussion. No egos, just a band celebrating their legacy for 11 awesome minutes. Imagine Nightwish closing with Greatest Show on Earth and all the members and singers screaming "We Were Here." It would be awesome.
