This is less a "documentary" and more following a meth addict and her family around with a camera. There's no real background, no deep insights, and for me, no real point.

I went to college in Faulkner County, AR. I live about 20 minutes away from where the majority of this was filmed. I work in an Emergency Department at a large hospital. I am quite acquainted with the dual havoc that meth abuse and opioid abuse are wreaking on rural Arkansas. This documentary doesn't do anything more than allow you to gawk at some incredibly unfortunate individuals. I have come to expect much better from HBO.

In all seriousness, I think what bothered me most about this documentary is watching the mother shoot her children up with meth. It really shows how deeply rooted the issue is.

Unsurprisingly exploitative and unknowingly pro-police- I say that considering that the filmmakers probably weren’t aware of their obvious hard-on for police procedure and lack of any moral interest in the victims of drug abuse despite asking them to pour their life stories on the camera. At the end of the day, this sort of thing just ends up being a pity watch for well-to-do neolibs- who like the filmmakers, have no real clue what to do with the subject that they so desperately love to pretend to care about.  At least it makes me appreciate even more what someone like Roberto Minerivini is able to accomplish in his work. The difference being that Minerivini simply seems to give a shit more about humanity.

"you'll just stay here for a week and leave"

a terribly bleak slice of life that nudges that boundary of poverty porn. there's not a conclusion to be drawn here, it's just human misery wherever the eye can see.

This was hard to get through. In depth looks at meth communities and meth law enforcement. I never was comfortable watching people with needles, and this did really give a firsthand look at meth usage.

However, this seemed like one of those instances where this documentary could’ve benefited from “less is more”. After about half an hour, it seems to just repeat itself over and over. Not only that, but there’s really no resolve (which may be the point of the documentary altogether).

Definitely a good “day in the life” example, but a little drawn out at times.

This was a really raw, straightforward look at a family dealign with meth addiction and the law enforcement trying to stop them. There was no real plot other than their day to day lives, and one of the sons experiencing constant recidivism for meth trafficking. I love raw documentaries like this and I really think there is so much to say on this topic. It's amazing to see how even in the US people live this way....

Even more documented evidence that the DEA is a blundering ineffective mess. Little Daniel is my hero.

This is crazy

A close enough and scary enough look at meth epidemic in Arkansas that you wish it gave you a lot more insight than just showing the lives of the people featured never getting better. We see incredibly foolish police who think they are accomplishing something, but the film doesn't really offer an alternative solution either. We see a family's lives get torn apart without making a definitive statement about if things could be different.

Lesson learned. Do drugs.

Every second of this doc is abject misery porn. Having seen what alcoholism has done in a small community where I live, I can only imagine how much worse meth is. Also if hoarders makes you nauseous, the combination of moldy animal shit, disgusting homes, and DEA agents whining about their budget will definitely make your stomach turn.

Heartwarming tale of homespun everyday meth folks. Watch as momma fits in rounds of state jails while trying to hold down a steady injecting regime of the wider family, all the while trying to maintain a small family business in the Arkansas countryside. incarcerating addicts doesn't stop addiction it just feeds cops' families (and not to mention their egos) and tears others apart, all while cartels are going on importing tons and tons of poison into these small rural communities. just a WILD thought, no one should be penalized for having a disease........???

This would be a really good documentary for a person ignorant to the dope game or what poverty actually feels like. I grew up lucky with hard working parents but was pals with several buddies who lived in government housing projects and got to see poverty first hand and I always loved it. I was and still am attracted to fucking insanity. Ain’t nothing better than watching a dope head search for his food stamp card while taking apart a foster for no reason.

Too little going on, I probably wouldn't call it a documentary in the same way I wouldn't call watching a sports game a documentary, you're sorta just watching someone do something.
