Frost, Barbara Ewing
4/26/1941 - 4/10/2024
Brownsburg, Indiana
Barbara Ewing "Stormy" Frost, 82, born in Ann Arbor, MI on April 26, 1941, left this earthly world on April 10, 2024. At the time of her death, Stormy resided in Brownsburg, Indiana after living much of her life in Grand Rapids.
Stormy graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids and attended Michigan State University. A talented pianist and musician, she competed in the Miss Grand Rapids competition as a teenager. The pictures of her in the pageant and subsequent parade portray a beautiful young woman full of promise and joy. After attending Michigan State University, Stormy married and moved to Hillsboro, Oregon where her oldest two daughters, Kim and Julie, were born and raised. She subsequently moved to Florida, where her youngest two daughters, Serena and Angel were born and raised. Early family times when her girls were young, included visits to a growing Disney World in Orlando and visits to Florida's beaches. In 1980, she moved back to Grand Rapids to be with and near family. There, after her children were grown, she joined Wyoming Community Church and served the children's music program for many years.
Stormy fiercely loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed family vacations to Grand Haven, the Turks and Caicos and Mackinac Island. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and nieces and nephews as they participated in dance, music, diving, swimming, football, soccer and a variety of other sports and activities. Stormy especially enjoyed the many holiday and family birthday celebrations, where her infectious laugh and her quick smile with a (sometimes) mischievous twinkle in her eye were on full display and were enjoyed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara Clarke Frost and Ruben Ewing Frost, husband John Bednarz, brother Chad Frost, beloved daughters Kimberly Coghill, Julie Hering-Kennedy, Angelique Gold and sons-in-law, Dan Coghill and Michael Gold. She is survived by her daughter Serena Rollins Runions (John), granddaughters Chloe Runions, Anna Runions, Clara Kennedy (Will), Rachael Perry (Jason), Amanda Kennedy (Bryan), Megan Veronesi (Brandon), Brandy Redman (Casey), grandsons Jacob Kennedy, Seth Kennedy, Trevor Gold and Sebastian Gold, sister Sandi Frost Steensma (Ron), brother Thomas Frost (Cheri), sister-in-law Mary Frost, nieces Anna Frost, Sarah Frost and Kristen Gresh (Michael), nephews Andrew Frost, Tony Frost and Blake Iwaniw (Heidi).
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Michigan so that family and friends can gather and share their memories of Stormy. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan, the Humane Society of West Michigan or to a charity that you know Stormy would love to see supported.
The family would like to thank the many people that have reached out to provide comfort and support during this difficult time.
