Our Favourite Drinking Spots in Saint Germain
This list has got my favourite bars in the incredible Saint Germain des Prés area in Paris. I lived on the beautiful rue Mazarine for 3 years and I know the area really well. These are the spots where locals drink and I’m sure you’ll love them! Bars are listed in no particular order.

Chez Georges
Chez Georges is a fantastic little bar in the heart of the Saint Germain des Prés area. It’s got this incredibly charming, old Paris jazz bar vibe. The bar began life in 1952 and has barely changed since. Inside you’ll find vintage posters adorning the walls and original wooden beams on the ceiling. It’s perhaps one of the cheapest bars in Paris with glasses of their very good house wine (red or white) from Bordeaux coming in at only €3.5. Bottles are €16.5 and they have some very good charcuterie and cheese platters that vary day by day.

Etna
Etna is a cracking natural wine bar on rue Mazarine. The small spot was founded by the incredibly friendly owner, Charles in 2015. The main room (the bar has recently been expanded) has a really cool 1950’s Sicilian vibe with a central, boat themed curved bar area. With the low lighting and exposed stone walls, the ambiance is really cool. It was a frequent spot for me when I lived next-door and it’s a must try if you like wine. The wine list has plenty of incredible small-producer bottles from Italy and France. They also serve awesome charcuterie and cheese platters!

- Open every day from 6pm until 12pm weekdays and 2am weekends
- You can’t reserve
- The bar is often privatised so check their instagram to avoid disappointment!

Chez Nous
Chez Nous is another superb wine bar in the Saint Germain area. You’ll find it right next to the Pont Neuf bridge on rue Dauphine. Open all year around, Chez Nous is an intimate wine bar serving incredible small-producer, natural and organic wine. It’s on the pricier side but they only serve really good wine so you really do get what you pay for. On the smaller side, there’s stool seating around a big central island table and a few high tables. In the summer they’ve got a great outside terrace with proper tables and seating.

Ni Une Ni Deux
Just down the road from Chez Nous you’ll find a really friendly little bar/pub on rue Dauphine, Ni Une Ni Deux. One of the cheaper options in the area, the bar shows sport (mainly rugby & football/soccer) on their TV screens daily. There’s also a table football (or babyfoot in French) next to the entrance. The owners are incredibly welcoming and are very touristy friendly. Despite the expensive area, the drinks at Ni Une Ni Deux are on the cheaper side – €4 happy hour pints of lager and €5.5 for Brooklyn IPA.

La Palette
Back into the heart of Saint Germain des Prés and towards the Beaux Arts school, lies a fantastic café/bar with a really traditional vibe. Located on a small side street in-between Rue Mazarine and Rue de Seine, this terrace is a must visit if you want to feel like a local. My ‘local bar’ for 3 years, I’ve spent many evenings at La Palette on their terrace. Named after the connection with the nearby art school, the bar has been frequented by many famous arts (including Picasso) and celebrities over the years. Drinks aren’t cheap (€10 for a pint of IPA) but you’re paying for the location.

- They have a small tapas menu if you’re hungry!
