Raised in Michigan, Jay Vasichek has lived the vast majority of his life in North Dakota. The only exception, was from 1975-1977 when he was stationed in California while in the Marines. After college, he worked at Tractor and Equipment Co. in Williston, ND, before returning to Michigan Implement in 1983. Jay worked with his dad, Jim, for several years and now works with his son, Jim. Michigan Implement changed it's name to Leading Edge Equipment when they purchased Devils Lake Equipment and Hampden Equipment in 2010. In 2012, they purchased Rosenau Equipment in Carrington, ND.
Jay and his wife Maria have four children and three grandchildren. Jim, Amie & Lauren Vasichek, live in Lakota, ND, Christina, Mark, Hudson and Leo Bata live in Adams, ND, Alex and Nicole both live in Fargo, ND.
Jay's favorite thing about working in a small community is having the privilege of doing business with friends, neighbors and relatives, too. "I've always enjoyed being a part of the Michigan business community. It's a tight knit group that help one another when needed" Jay said.
A unique thing about Leading Edge Equipment is that it is one of the few family owned dealerships left in North Dakota. Most other dealerships are owned by corporations. The Michigan store will celebrate 50 years in business with a party planned for Nov. 1st.
One thing that most people don't know about Jay is that, he is a thin man in a fat man's body!
