• About Us … Together Empowering Students for Success

The Lauderdale County School System educates 8,037 students in grades PreK-12 at 10 school sites and the Allen Thornton Career Technical Center. Employing more than 600 area residents, LCSS is proud of our dedicated staff members--about 400 are classroom teachers. LCSS has served the students, staff, and families of Lauderdale County since the early years of the last century and graduated its first student in 1913.

A proven leader in PreK-12 public education, LCSS is ranked #28 in Best School Districts in Alabama (there are 138 total public school districts in the state) by Niche, with its highest rankings being “A” for its teachers and “A-“ for academics. Great Schools, a grassroots organization, ranks LCSS above average in comparison to other districts in the State of Alabama.
