Larry Frost Wiki – Larry Frost Biography
Larry is the father of Nebraska football coach Scott Frost. He played for the Huskers in the 1960′s. He joined the Huskers in 1966 after earning a scholarship at the HB position. As a high school athlete at Malcolm High School, Larry would eventually score 121 touchdowns, including 9 in one game, at the Eight-Man school. He was an inductee to the 2019 Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. He was a longtime high school coach. He and his wife Carol coached at several schools around the state of Nebraska, the most notable, Wood River in the early ’90s, where he coached Steve and their younger son Scott.
Larry and Scott were the co-headliners of the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame’s 2019 class. Scott Frost said, “I’m honored to go in and it makes it even more special to have a chance to go in with dad. I’m just thrilled for dad. I know this means a lot to him and it means a lot to our family.”
He lettered for Nebraska from 1967-69. He amassed 742 yards of offense and a pair of touchdowns, mostly over his final two seasons, according to Sports Reference. In a 2018 interview with the Journal Star, Tom Osborne, who was Larry’s position coach at NU, said, “Larry was a relatively big guy for that time. He probably weighed around 190 pounds and he had good speed. He was a sprinter in track and so we offered him and, of course, he started for us for a couple of years and was a very fine player. He played wingback, which was kind of a combination of receiver and running back, and he also had to do some blocking.”

Larry Frost Death
Larry passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, according to a Facebook post by his oldest son Steve. Scott’s older brother, Steve, announced their father’s passing on Facebook Wednesday night. Steve Frost wrote: “Today my good father Larry Frost went home to be with the good Father and his son. We love you dad… and we will see you soon enough.”
