    • Q:

I'm trying to plan a visit with my 3 yr old (walking) and 1.5 yr old (carrier). I was recommended to not bring the stroller since certain terrains have stairs. Can i make the 1.5 mile hike? Do any of your younger children like it?

      A:

You can definitely make the hike, it just might be a little more challenging with the small children! Definitely doable though.

Was having serious "indooritus" from COVID SiP, so piled all the kids into the car and took them out to Lands End. It was kind of an impromptu trip (during the summer) into the city, but a fun and much needed one.

We parked near one of the entrances off of the Lincoln Golf Course, access to the trails was easy to get to.

The walk down to Mile Rock Beach was fairly quick and easy. My toddler walked pretty much the whole way down to the beach. The views from just about every angle were absolutely breathtaking. The Lands End Labyrinth looked like it was inspired by The "Man in the Maze" (at least that's what it looked like to me) was really special to see in person and the view right off the Maze of the Golden Gate Bridge was another one of many stunners.

The hike back was a little challenging for my littlest since the walk is all uphill. We took our time and really enjoyed being outdoors and taking in all the views. It's the kind of magical place where time seemed to stand still even for just a bit.

Really look forward to coming back and exploring the Sutro Baths and the tunnel.

      COVID
I would say about 95% of people we encountered were wearing masks which was great considering at the time it wasn't a requirement to wear them outdoors. It was nice to see the majority of people pull together to be considerate of others especially bc you have to pass each other on the trails.

Highly recommend Lands End especially when it's safe to have out of town visitors , you just can't go wrong with the spectacular trails and the sweeping views.

This is a super easy hike and the view is very pretty. You can see the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. Parking was super easy to find. Close to a golf cart, you will need to be cognizant of golfers and carts. I definitely recommend checking it out!

We went for a hike here in January. The weather was nice out, but the wind is no joke, so plan accordingly. The hikes were on mostly paved pathways and allowed for beautiful scenery of the Bay Area, including countless great views of the Golden Gate Bridge! We stayed here to see the sunset. It was a beautiful evening. We highly recommend going on this for a nice afternoon!

What a view! We made a quick pitstop at Land's End at the suggestion of a friend and it was worth it for the photo op with the waves crashing into the rocks. We stopped by on a Wednesday around 11:30 am and there was plenty of parking in the lot. We did notice a car break-in though so the signs around the lot definitely aren't lying. Make sure to hide your valuables!

This area is a favorite. With Ocean Beach, the Sutro Baths, and the Coastal Trail in it, you can find a lot of things to do. I went on a gloomy July day and it was still enjoyable. Make sure to check the weather cause it was freezing when I got there!

PARKING: Free! I went on a Saturday afternoon, and I lucked out with the parking. It's a hit-or-miss, but I love that the parking was free.

BATHROOM: It's a port-a-potty system. There was a long line when I visited.

PHONE SERVICE: No service here (for T-Mobile customers like myself)

MAIN TAKEAWAY: Nestled within the busy SF, Lands End is a good place for some fresh air and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The views are amazing, and the water is breath-taking. It does get windy, so be sure to dress appropriately!

Spectacular views and a gentle ruggedness from this best-of-San Francisco public space. Don't miss it on your visit to the City, don't forget it if the Bay Area is your home.

Land's End consists not only of the area around the former Sutro Baths - including Point Lobos, the Seal Rocks, and the visitor's center - but also the shoreline along the entire northwest corner of San Francisco. If you're heading north / northeast towards the Golden Gate, this takes you past Lincoln Park and all the way to China Beach.

Given that it encompasses all these breathtaking sites, it's a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike. If you choose to get out onto the trails, they shouldn't be too steep or treacherous for most, and you'll really get a sense for how deeply the Bay Area is rooted in nature.

If anything, the sense that the nearby Golden Gate is indeed the gateway to the western U.S., with nothing out there in the ocean looking west except Asia far, far away, will make you feel like you're standing or walking on the edge of the continent.

While parking lots are closed during the current coronacrisis, you may be able to find spaces on nearby streets.

The most beautiful hiking view in the city, beside of the ocean and I can enjoy the water wave, blue sky and more. The stairs are so many, and goes up and down, it close to a golf park and Legend of holegion of honor

PS. For more information and photos, search Lands End Labyrinth or Point Lobos Trail or Los Angeles Lands End of Anaheim...it appears on Yelp under different names.

Aside from the obvious tourist attractions, this tops the short list of must-sees in the city, especially considering it is unaffected by the pandemic and the only poop you'll see is inhuman and the only needles are falling from trees.

The rock maze is not really that amazing, but it seems to delight and engage all ages as a quirky detour along the nicest coastal hike in the city.  With views of the Golden Gate in the background, the circular maze is a cool little photo OP.  Especially for dishonest and very short Instagram influencers who can claim they're at  Stonehenge.

To find the labyrinth, exit the lot toward the trees and follow the signs to Mile Rock Beach.  After the first set of stairs down, go right instead of taking the second set of stairs, watch your step, and find your way down  to the other side of the Lion Kingish rock hill obscures the view of the labyrinth.

      Lands End Rocks!
