Q:
I'm trying to plan a visit with my 3 yr old (walking) and 1.5 yr old (carrier). I was recommended to not bring the stroller since certain terrains have stairs. Can i make the 1.5 mile hike? Do any of your younger children like it?
A:
You can definitely make the hike, it just might be a little more challenging with the small children! Definitely doable though.

What a lovely view of the Bay oh, what a lovely place, and what a lovely Trail. Come on out to Land's End and take a leap into the future, or at least just enjoy The View like I do and enjoy yourself. One of the other and the many parts of the Presidio. There are so many things to see and do in this patch of ground. Thank you history for setting such a place as side

What a beautiful hike. This hike is easy. There is some stairs and some slight incline but overall not too hard. It is very dog friendly. When I went it was a warm day and there was a cold breeze so it was perfect. I have definitely heard that you should wear layers if you go in the colder months.
PARKING: If you park at visitor center it is free. We got there around 9:30 AM and there were still spots available. When we left around 11:30 or so the parking area was a mad house and cars were swarming the little parking lot. Make sure to go there earlier in the morning. - 161179126024/6/2015
Awesome touristy spot for out-of-towners or even for NorCal residents! Lands End offers a very easy and short hike to a breathtaking and amazing view of what SF has to offer. There are different trails you can take but the one we chose to do, lead us to the man made labyrinth! I forgot which trail this is but if you find yourself going down a ton, and I mean a TON of stairs, you'll end up where we ended up :)
The labyrinth is really cool for photo ops. You also get a really awesome view of the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge from afar. I do, however, recommend to come when it is less windy. I went on Saturday early afternoon around 1pm ish and the winds were STRONG. We couldn't take the best pictures due to all the wind, but we worked with what we were dealt with. - Jennifer D.Port Hueneme, CA103811622/5/2018
My friend and I wanted to check out the Sutro Baths but discovered this by accident which was such a huge bonus. It's a relatively easy walk but if you get far enough, you'll encounter MANY MANY MANY stairs. So if you're with someone who might have trouble going through all that, maybe don't walk the entire length. Most people walking this trail had comfortable shoes on though we did spot a few daredevils working it in heels so I guess it's doable! My friend and I also saw the labyrinth by accident when we went off the main trail to one of the side ones - so try to make some side journeys and enjoy all the surprises that come your way.
This trail is probably one of my favorites because it offers such a stunning view of the golden gate bridge as well as a consistent close-up of the ocean. Also, who doesn't love a good easy hike? I'll definitely be back here again next summer when the temperatures are warmer. - Adam V.Carnegie, PA22118824711/17/2019
Great spot for a photo of the San Francisco Bridge and the bay! Also a nice walk if you're looking for a stroll with a view and a breeze.

My favorite park in my favorite city in the US. Lands End is special to me for many reasons, and every time I'm here, it's a treat to go back and spend a sunny afternoon hiking the long path along the edge of SF.
The park is huge. You could spend an entire day here (if not an eternity) and keep yourself moving the entire time. In addition to the paths and vistas, they have a great little visitors center complete with coffee shop and cafe (of course), which overlooks the beach often busy with surfers and views unparalleled. The large parking lot is also located at this end, which is convenient. The other end of the path will spill you out into The Presidio, so be prepared to either walk all the way back or have a plan in place for pick-up.
It really is one of my most favorite places in the world -- not only because my husband proposed to me here along the cliffs, but because it's a taste of what this edge of the world looked like before humans set up camp and changed the landscape forever. It's a natural wonder within a city, and totally worth visiting and soaking in at every opportunity you get. - Read N.Reston, VA4238610/14/2020
My favorite destination thus far on my trip! Such a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Also, lands end leads to el Camino Del Mar which is a beautiful neighborhood

Living in a landlocked state Lands End was my favorite experience of San Francisco when we visited; we actually came back twice. While it is a busy area, it was peaceful, and it didn't feel like we were in the city.
We drove there on a Sunday and were lucky enough to find parking near a trail for free. There are a lot of places to explore at Lands End and we didn't even get that far, but I was impressed with what we saw. I would absolutely come again when we visit SF! - Sharifa K.Daly City, CA141848/26/2019
This is a must do when visiting San Francisco or if you're a local. It's a pretty short and easy hike. It took us 1.5 hrs but we stopped to take in the scenery a few times. There are some killer views of the coastline and the maze doesn't get old.

Beautiful Park and Trails! I loved walking/ riding bike along them. The bathrooms at the service center were very clean.
