My friend and I camped in a beautiful lakeside campsite for one night after a multi-day kayak/camping trip because we wanted to spend a bit more time on the island and explore a bit before heading back to the mainland. The campsite was serene, with a thick group of trees on one side and the lake on another, and we were not crammed next to other noisy campers. The two lakes were beautiful, and I was really impressed with all the extra precautions taken around Covid and many amenities and activiites offered (even if we didn't use most of them at the moment).

There are tons of activities for kids to do all over, but also the location is a short drive away from great hikes, scenic drives, great restaurants, and plenty of other activities. While it may seem pricey at first glance, I could easily see how it would offer great value for families or groups. It was worth the price for us.

My family and I stayed 1 night here—1/2 of us were in the yurt while the other 1/2 stayed in the lodge. My husband and I mostly stayed in the yurt so can’t really comment on he lodge unfortunately. The yurt was awesome though! We were in Yurt 4 which is the yurt all the way at the end near a lake and surrounded by trees which gave a nice secluded feeling since no other yurts were around us. On the flip side, it also made our yurt fairly close to one of the roads but we really didn’t hear much noise at night. The yurt itself was very clean! The kitchen included plentiful dish wares, knives, cutting board, cooking pots, toaster, keurig, dish soap/sponges, towels both paper and reusable, fridge and microwave. The dining table was large enough for the 5 of us. The sofa and bed were very comfortable. Outside, there was the hot tub which was already heated for us by the time we arrived. They also provided cute beach towels by the door for us to use after we rubbed. There were tables for lounging and dining outside as well which we didn’t get to enjoy since it was raining. We did go ahead and grill though! Gas grill was quick to heat up and we had hotdogs on the table within the half hour. My only advice here would be to pack some extra blankets and food. The yurt came with a fireplace and space heater but the highest we could get it to was low to mid 60s. (Granted, it was like high 40s at night and 60s during the day). So if that isn’t your cup of tea, then definitely bring more blankets! The hot tub also struggled in the cold weather. It started at 104 but after tubbing for a good 1-2 hrs, it would drop down to 100. As for food, their general store that usually carries food is closed right now so make sure to pack some. Also wanted to give a shout-out to the service here. We called a few times about heating issues and grilling and they responded really quickly! Someone came and brought an extra heater and later when we called, they also brought another propane tank. In sum, my family and I are already talking about coming back and booking 2 yurts for ourselves. We really enjoyed it out here and found it relaxing. Would love to plan for a time when it’s not raining since they also seem to have lots of outdoor activities.

This was our first getaway since the COVID pandemic, and it was such a great peaceful quiet getaway. The resort is taking all precautions (masks and hand sanitizer in various areas) and only allowing 50% capacity. There were three campsites in our area, and we were the only ones, so they put us away from other campers. We reserved a Family Lake Site, so we were right next to the beach with lots of trees for privacy. Bathrooms were well-maintained. It is a great family resort!

We camped for two nights at Lakedale Resort. Overall we enjoyed our stay, just had a few things that took that down a notch or two.

Positives: We lucked out and were placed in a beautiful spot, 201, which looked out over the lake. My 9-year-old enjoyed swimming in the beach area and playing the giant Connect Four game. We didn't have time to rent a kayak at the General Store, but would have liked to, definitely a fun option. The shower, a lengthy walk or very short drive from our campsite, was hot and worked OK for camping. We felt safe there.

Negatives: I would be leery of camping here again, as your spot is decided for you and some spots are definitely more desirable than others. A large family moved in as neighbors on our second night and played music loudly, going past 10:00 and then starting again before 8:00. Noise is always a risk while camping, expecting laughter, talking and kids playing but booming bass definitely put a damper on the peacefulness of the lake setting. A patrol by staff would have been helpful, as it was raining and getting out of my tent to approach strangers about turning down their music at 10:30 wasn't appealing. Also, the chemical toilets in the campground area are pretty gross. Not sure there's a way around that though!? Thankfully, the flushable toilets were clean enough, but again a lengthy walk or short drive away from the campsites.

My husband and I spent a long weekend at Lakedale at the end of April in the lodge. We had a lovely time, they have a contactless checkin and staff are there to help answer any questions as you arrive. The lodge is beautiful and well cared for, as you enter they have a gift shop area with local items and a beautiful sitting area with fire place overlooking the lake, stunning view.
Our room was a lodge room - not deluxe, it was adequate, clean and comfortable bed, large nice bathroom; we were on the 2nd floor we had a deck overlooking the lake. The standard room does not have a fridge or counter space for your things in the room, like the deluxe room, but we made due and the view and lodge amenities were very nice.
We had made to order huge delicious omelets every morning and they have the most delicious homemade granola. Breakfast is included and very well done. And they have a selection of local wines available for purchase - and on an honor system ! You write down what you took and cost and they add it to your room. When’s the last time you say that? Was our 1st and we loved the options.
We enjoyed the large deck over the lake, peaceful and beautiful this time of year. Also there was a fire pit area for lodge guests and we used that one night with a s’mores kit they have available. Was perfect. Overall it is a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed our stay. We will be back soon.

Our family of 5 (mom, 2 teens, & 2 grandmothers) stayed in the duplex canvas tents for 1 night in July. We really enjoyed our stay. There is only 1 set of the duplex canvas tents, and it is just 2 of the canvas tents right together. We each had a bed & futon bed, set of table & chairs, and outdoor picnic table. We shared a firepit and the parking space was between the tents.

The resort is a very cute property. Plenty of outdoor stuff to do — corn hole, paddle boards, paddle boats, canoes, swimming, tetherball, etc. They offered the craft activities, but we didn’t do them. They offered bikes to ride around the property. Tons of different camping options — all looked very cute.

We did not have electricity or water, but we were very close to the shower facilities and mess tent. They had a large spread of breakfast items, which we were thankful for (and surprised by!). Note that we were not offered the hot water bottles for our feet at night, which we were looking forward to getting (maybe because of COVID?). The staff was very nice & helpful whenever we needed anything. Do note that the store closes at 4pm and doesn’t reopen until 9am, so if you want firewood, ice, etc., get it quick). You may be able to get something from the lodge, but they seemed to have it mostly reserved for the lodge room guests only. Showers were decent, with 3 on the toilet side and 2 more on the other side.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would return if in the area again!

Lakedale has lovely, quiet, and wooded tent campsites that offered privacy and peace that my partner and I value. The resort also has a variety of activities that are both adult and kid inclusive. There seems to be something for everyone. We also really appreciated the Wifi at the camp store, without this we would not have been able to navigate the island, as service is very limited. We greatly enjoyed renting paddle boards for the day- the lakes were beautiful.

We had a great time at Lakedale Resort on San Juan Island! We hope to return again and again to this beautiful lodge on the lake's edge. The delicious breakfast, that included an omelet to order, was served to us on the deck under a heat lamp. While we could have eaten inside in the breakfast room, we chose to sit outside because of the ongoing pandemic. We enjoyed exploring the extensive wooded grounds around the lodge during the day that are normally busy with campers, but are closed during their fall and winter seasons. From our room overlooking the lake we spied an eagle in the tree who repeatedly flew back and forth across the lake. We didn't get around to renting a paddle boat, but we will do that next time.

We camped with our RV in June, our spot overlooked one of the lakes, the view was fantastic! The property was lovely, we walked in the mornings, ended our days sitting having happy hour down the water watching families fish and kayak. You could purchase firewood (big bundle for the $) as well as ingredients for S'mores. The communication was great and the staff very friendly from check in and the especially the staff at the market! you can rent bikes, kayaks, paddle boards or relax. It was a great spot and we will definitely go back with friends. Will try the beautiful glamping tents next!

My husband and I were looking to camp in the San Juans but were a little nervous as we'd be traveling with our 10 month old (very active/crawling) baby. We stubbled across Lakedale's canvas cabins and could not have been more pleased! It was the perfect "glamping" experience and we highly recommend it for anyone who is nervous about camping for the first time with babies (or simply couples or families looking for a luxurious camping experience).

The cabin was clean, spacious and airy. We appreciated the fact that the cabins allowed for privacy and a front row view of the lake. We were also especially impressed by the comfort of the bed! We (and baby) got great night sleeps and woke up well rested every morning. (My husband and I truly think that we slept better in the cabins compared to sleeping in our own home)

Check in and out was a breeze and all services/employees were respectful of social distancing given COVID regulations which we appreciated.

My husband fished on the grounds and we enjoyed the breakfast provided each morning. We took day trips to Roche Harbor and Westcott Oyster farm. We also did trail runs on the San Juan trails which were protected from traffic and scenic. Next time, we'd love to visit Duck Soup restaurant as my husband has been wanting to visit this restaurant for years.

We are looking forward to returning hopefully soon!

I rented a car so don’t know details, but there are taxis. Trip Advisor has some info about taxis that I would check, since it sounds like that service is not regulated and rates could be an issue. There are restaurants and a grocery store in Friday Harbor which is about 3 miles from Lakedale.
