I cannot wait to return. This is the best beach resort I have ever experienced. The F&B is amazing. You can even cook your own beach barbecue at sunset. The resort supplies you everything or you can bring in your own supplies. The staff is committed to guest satisfaction. Any bad reviews you read are usually from cheap losers who are trying to crash the beach without staying at the hotel

if you want to walk out of your room or apartment and be on the beach- yes, on the sand, this is the only place for you.

we rented an apartment with living room and full kitchen and bed and bath. Our living room and bedroom featured large windows viewing the ocean!

What made this special is the totally private beach- completely closed off from public access.

There is no better beach experience than The La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
Park your car and never drive again with a Beautiful room, beach right outside your door with chair and umbrella set up, gentle waves for swimming, tennis and golf, walks around the property, dinner set ups on the beach with sun sets at your table, fun village with shops and restaurants, swimming pool and the gorgeous Marine room for fine dining. Too many wonderful things to mention!

For a one night stay for a business meeting, Room 133 was minimally adequate. For longer stays it would be intolerable. A small table with two dining-style chairs, no easy chairs or sofa, a wall-mounted midget tension set, black mold in the bathroom were all dissapointing. Service for the meeting breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good but the food was pretty average - especially with dinner dishes not being served as ordered. Next day breakfast food and service were very good, but dissapointingly did not start until 9:00 a.m., and the beach location is unbeatable.

My family and I spent 6 nights at the beautiful LJBTC for a family reunion and are leaving so grateful for the experience. I was so impressed with how EASY they make vacationing, especially for families: spacious rooms, comfortable pull-out sofa, trundles in every room, kitchen with all the necessities, water refill stations, loungers and umbrella at no cost, towels and foot washing stations everywhere and the most friendly, helpful staff. There is so much to do! Golf, tennis, beach activities, fitness room, massage services etc. but I was most impressed with the daily (free!) activities ranging from Sundaes on Sunday to fire pit and S’mores, tide pool walks, arts and crafts, scavenger walks….We could have stayed 2 weeks and not done it all. We only ate on property at Club Dining and the food was great and the setting beautiful (we saw a whale do a full breach!). We did book a sunset BBQ and I only regret not booking 1-2 more nights of that. My only complaint is the rooms and building need work. Our room (#231) was very tired with an uneven floor. The bedroom location with views and waves made up for it, but if you’re a hotel snob as I can be, that may be a problem for you. My family also had rooms #230 (better room but bedroom on front of property) and #121. Overall, we were hugely impressed and feel so lucky to have found this amazing gem of a property! We also highly recommend Everyday California for surf lessons, Dough Mama and Shorerider for food/drinks. Happy Travels!

I stayed in one of the two handicapped accessible rooms. One of them is fine, but room 111 is not handicapped accessible, for many many reasons (although advertised as such). We have been guests at the Beach Club for 25-30 years, and have always been happy with the rooms and amenities.. Please ask specific questions about any ADA accommodations when you book your reservation if you need them. Otherwise this is a delightful and unique property.

This is a hidden gem in sunny La Jolla! The accommodation is comfortable and best of all, for the seeker of breathing in all the goodness of the ocean in a calm, peaceful, setting, you are going to love this place! Get an oceanfront room....you can lay in bed and watch the tide come almost right up to your door. The sound of the waves at night makes for the best sleep. Walk able access to restaurants and activities. Love love this place!!!

Our stay at La Jolla Beach and tennis club was perfection. Check-in was a breeze and the gentleman that checked us in was super nice and helpful. We had a room with a kitchenette and it was big and comfortable for us. Yes, the rooms could use renovations. The carpets are old and in some spots had tears along the edges. Our room had a slight musky smell and to me it’s from the old carpeting. The furniture is old and just the overall room def needs updating. However, I will say everything was very clean. I had no issues with the cleanliness and the service provided by the room attendant throughout our stay. Breakfast and service at the restaurant was very good as well. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. Now let’s talk about what truly makes this place a gem. It’s the beautiful beachfront property. You’re literally steps from the beach. So relaxing and beautiful and worth a million bucks. The amenities are great and though also showing a little dated was not a big deal for us. Dinner at The Marine Room was perfection and delicious. Honestly, I can’t wait to come back.

The rooms need a makeover. I felt I was living in 1970s yet paying 2020 prices.

I booked well in advance, intending to play tennis. I was not informed that the three of the tennis courts are unavailable due to resurfacing. Therefore we played tennis one day on undesirable courts that face East - West. Had I known tennis court availability was limited I would have not booked at the time, rather postponing my "tennis" trip to a later date.

The breakfast food was mediocre. The omelettes and scrambled eggs were overcooked; everyone in our group of 16 had this complaint. Once I ordered prime rib and eggs, expecting a slice of prime rib; instead I got small chunks of meat with eggs. It seems like they didn't want customers to know how much prime rib was actually being served. Some of the meals were quite good. Our group had dinner there one night and it was delicious.

The setting by the ocean is terrific. The amenities, like tennis, golf, workout room, are very nice.

The staff was terrific. Everyone was friendly, including ground keepers and room service people. I regret I forgot to give them a tip.

I am giving this an Excellent rating as I think it is an exceptional resort in an fantastic setting on the beach in La Jolla. I think it is as described and pictured on their website. This is not what I would consider a 5 star/Ritz Carlton type resort and I don't think they portray it as such. It is very nice. Rooms are as described and well maintained and clean. Do not expect a brand new hotel and furnishings. This is not a cookie cutter resort. There are a wide range of rooms. Some large with full kitchens, some with kitchenettes and some basic rooms. Some have ocean views and some do not, so many choices, and a range of price points, if available.

I met family there and there seemed to be a lot of guests doing the same, so there are some large and medium sized groups there as well as Members of the Club using the amenities as well. All Staff were friendly and helpful and I would say the same about other guests. Every night there were people with beach fire pits and bar b que's (all set up and arranged by the club) on the beach. Super nice. The food and drinks were very good and priced fairly. Not especially fancy or extravagant but I would say similar to what you would expect at a country club versus fine dining. There is also a small downtown area near that is easily walkable with shops and restaurants. I plan to return.

The beachfront one-bedroom that my wife and I had in January would be tight. The living room space could probably accomodate two single beds and very little else. My LA son is exploring a two-bedroom for his family that includes two young children. Ask for the layout and/or connecting rooms map to show the real space - or not.

I do not know of any renovations happening. It is very busy in the summer so would definitely reserve cabanas, grills, fire pit, etc. in advance.

No renovations underway but they really ought to start by tearing buildings down in sections and rebuilding. Try to get an upstairs unit so you don't hear the people above you. There is very little to no soundproofing.

I don't recall room locations. We had nearly 20 people with us & remembering my own number at the time was hard enough. We did have 2-2 bedroom accommodations, one right on the beach & one just outside the main entrance to the club. Both had living rooms, 2 bathrooms, full sized kitchens & some basic kitchenware. The one outside the club entrance had a nice backyard & its own barbecue grill. I would advise you to speak with one of their guest services people or manager about the room types, not the front desk attendants. Those at the front desk were young & clueless.
