NEWS 10 FIRST ALERT FIRE & WEATHER UPDATE | fire, weather, meteorologist | News 10's Holden LeCroy Meteorologist is live with a weather and fire weather update for the rest of the week. Full Forecast available at KTVL.com/weather | By KTVL CBS 10 News, Medford | Facebook | Hey, guys. Uh new semi meteorologist Holden LaCroix here with a quick weather. Kinda fire weather update as well. I know we’ve been kind of relatively rainy and cool and we kind of get more of the same as we had into the overnight hours tonight. Let’s talk about temperatures though. That’s the big story today. We’re running about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than what we had yesterday. Many of us were in the eighties. Mostly sunny on Wednesday. It’s a different story today. Most of the day was in the sixties. We got up to around 70 degrees for our west side valleys but we’ll see even cooler weather once we head into the day tomorrow. We’re kind of tracking this area of low pressure. A lot of the rains not reaching the ground right now. I know it shows precipitation on the radar but once we had into that overnight hours tonight, we’re really going to watch this area of low pressure kind of redeveloping off the California coast somewhere in between Brookings and Crescent City and you can already see the cloud cover offshore. That’s as the moisture starts to feed in. So, originally, this cold front kind of stalled out over Western Oregon yesterday if you remember gusty winds yesterday evening. And it’s been lacking a lot of moisture. But like I was saying once that area of low pressure kind of redevelops off of Crescent City. We’re going to start to see that rain start to develop areas of Siskiyou County and that’s going to move north in the areas of Ashland and Medford eventually. And then it’s going to be a pretty rainy Friday once this main low moves in and even bringing the potential of thunderstorms out on the east side once we head into the day on Saturday. So definitely going to be nice setup across the region because we could have some areas of heavier rainfall mainly across Siskiyou County. Uh this is kind of the area where we’re expecting a lot of the convection, the precipitation to start developing. Mainly across Western Siskiyou County, areas of Crescent City and Eureka and then that’s going to send north into areas of Medford, Eugene, eventually. Once we head into the day on Friday. So, let’s time out future scan. That way you have a better look at the precipitation. You can see cloud cover quite persistent this afternoon and that only overnight tonight but here’s what I was talking about. We’re going to start to watch moisture start to develop across the Siskius and Western Siskiyou County. Those of you around Happy Camp and areas of Fort Jones, that precipitation will start to send north once we head into the overnight hours tonight. You can see it kind of gets trapped along the Umqua divide and along the Cascades and that’s when we’re going to see some heavier precipitation develop overnight tonight. So, much of the night kind of scattered showers, heavy at times, could have a few downpours there and we can’t rule out few rumbles of thunder here and there but I would expect a lot of thunderstorms to hold to the east side once we head into the day on Saturday and you can kind of see that here. Relatively dry start. Once we head into Friday morning, once we head into the afternoon, that’s when we start to get a little afternoon heating and that will develop those showers and even a few thunderstorms Friday night. Gonna be a pretty rainy night especially across Siskiyou County, Jackson County, and that eventually starts to wind down. Once we head towards around midnight on Saturday, notice a lot of the moisture starts to develop out on the east side. Once we head intoward around midnight on Saturday and especially through the afternoon hours, could even have a few strong thunderstorms out towards areas of Lake County and Klamath County and once we head into Saturday. So, it’s mainly just going to be a shower variety for the west side. The east side will start to see those thunderstorms develop as early as Saturday morning but it’s really Saturday evening that we’re going to see the greatest potential thunderstorms out on the east side. You can kind of see that once we head into the evening hours there. Lakeview starting to see those showers and even a few thunderstorms around Lake County once we had into Saturday afternoon. Now, the other story is we are going to clear things out once we head into Sunday and that’s when we’re going to see a lot more sunshine out there in the rest of the week. We’re going to start to warm things up. So, just quickly looking at the Rogue Valley seventy. You can see the showers expected really through Saturday morning. Once we head into next week, high pressure starts to dominate and we could be very close to 85 degrees once we head into Tuesday. So, we have the rainy weather at least through Saturday morning, Saturday evening shifts out toward the east side. Klamath Falls, Lakeview. Then, once we head into next week, we’re going to start to see the clearing sunny conditions especially on Sunday. Perfect time to spend time with dad. We’re going to be in the mid 70s, mostly sunny out there. Well, we’ll have more weather coming up at News ten at six. Make sure you check the latest forecast on KTVL. com. I hope you guys have a great evening. I’ll see you in a 20 minutes if
