Getting started in Krunker.io[]

Krunker is a rather unique game, and (like most .io games) does not feature any tutorial. Hence, newer players may find it very difficult to adjust to this game. This article will provide most of the basic knowledge you need to get started in Krunker, while assuming that you, the reader, knows most of the fundamentals of FPS games.

The Basics[]

Objective[]

The most common objective in Krunker is to kill other players. Your character has a weapon and health. Use your weapon to inflict damage onto other players to reduce their health. When their health reaches zero, they die, and you are awarded points. Some modes require one or one's team to gain the most points from killing enemies to win, while others have different objectives, such as capturing flags or controlling objectives.

For a full list of game modes and their objectives, visit Game Modes

Controls[]

The main default controls of interest are:

W,A,S,D: Move forward, strafe left, move backwards, strafe right respectively

Mouse: Move you mouse to adjust where you look and aim.

Spacebar: Jump. Jump to reach better position or move faster, but be warned that jumping makes your movement predictable to enemy players.

Left click: Shoot. For automatic weapons, the weapon will keep firing as long as left click is held until all ammo is expended. For semi weapons, you have to click every time you want to shoot.

Right click: Aim down sights. This raises your accuracy and zooms in, allowing you to hit targets easier. Releasing right click will allow you to revert to your default state.

E: Switch to your secondary and back.

Q: Switch to your melee weapon and back.

Shift: Crouch. Crouching slightly increases your accuracy and makes you a smaller target but makes you slower as well.

R: Reloads your weapon. Clicking the left mouse button when you have no more ammunition also reloads youe weapon.

There are more controls such as slide-hopping and wall-running, but these are advanced skills and will not be covered here. For a full list of movements, visit this page

Classes and weapons[]

Classes in Krunker all have a unique primary weapon exclusive to their class, and can only use that primary weapon. If you wish to use a specific primary weapon, you must use its corresponding class. Most classes have 100 Health, though there are exceptions. Some classes can also equip secondary weapons, and all secondary weapons can be used by every class that can use secondaries (i.e. no class-exclusive secondary). The default secondary is the Pistol, with more secondaries being unlocked as you level up.

All classes are immediately available to every player. Feel free to experiment with the classes to learn their ins and outs. For more information, visit the weapons page.

Leveling Up[]

Your score at the end of the match will be added to your overall experience. Your experience level indicates how much, well, experience, you have with the game, and as your experience level increases, you gradually get access to more features of Krunker, such as different secondaries, trading, marketplace etc. For players with accounts, their levels are indicated to the left of their health bars.

To learn how to gain more experience, visit the scoring page to view the different ways to gain points and the different point bonuses in-game.

Note that experience can only be gained on normal games and not in custom games.

Settings[]

Settings affects your experience of the game. Some of the more important settings are:

Keybinds: affects what happens when you press a certain key. For instance, you can set your keybinds for Q to switch to your secondary and E to your melee. Experiment to find out what is comfortable for you.

Resolution: affects how large your game window appears and adjusts the visual qualities of your game due to the setting controlling whether the game looks more pixelated or not. Be aware though, that increasing your Resolution may lead to a drop in fps, which is a important element in Krunker.

Field of view: affects how much of the game world you can see. The default FoV is 70 (degrees).

Sensitivity: affects how much your in-game character's view moves relative to your mouse movement. High sensitivity allows for quick flicks to change direction or respond to new attackers, while lower sensitivities allows for more precise aiming. Experiment to find your preferred settings.

Weapon Field of View: affects how large your weapon appears.

For a full list of settings and how they affect gameplay, visit the Settings page

Various graphics settings (particle distance, render distance, shadows etc.): This affects the visual quality of the game. Consider downgrading them if your PC lags too much.

Recommendations[]

Turn muzzle flash OFF. Not only does it improve your performance, it allows you to see you enemies clearly while you are shooting at them.

Turn sniper flap OFF. It's rather distracting and takes up precious screen space.

Set FoV to 90. It's the most common FoV for FPS and a reasonable middle ground between low FoV, which have wide models but make it difficult for you to see players at the edge of your screen, and high FoV which allows you to see a lot more but greatly distorts your view.

Turn ON high tickrate. This makes hit registration more reliable.

Set slide control to maximum. See this page as to why

Ensure that your "Challenge Mode" setting is off.

Turn ON Aim Freeze Fix. Sometimes without this setting on your mouse will flick in random directions. This setting will fix that.

Krunkies[]

You may have noticed that you have been earning "Krunkies" at the end of a match. Krunkies are the virtual currency of Krunker, used to buy various cosmetic items, either from the store (by purchasing spins) or from other players in the marketplace. Note that the marketplace has a experience level requirement. Similar to experience, they cannot be gained in custom games.

The amount of krunkies you earn is equal to 1% of your score, rounded down, and capped at 30KR per match for most players.

More information[]

The following information is more than the basics, but still can help one understand the game

Pace[]

Krunker is a fast-paced game. As such, it is recommended that you learn the basics of b-hopping and sliding as you progress. Slidehopping is especially important as it grants players remarkable mobility and makes them harder to hit. Practice in empty lobbies to learn it!

Custom games[]

Custom games usually feature interesting game modes and fan-created maps. Note that experience and krunkies cannot be earned by playing on these maps.

Class levels[]

Class levels are like account levels for each of the player's classes, and represent how much experience one has on each class. They generally serve only has a way to track experience, but recently there is a trend of releasing "mastery" weapon skins to people who have achieved a certain level on a class.

Spins[]

Spins are a method of obtaining skins. Treat them as loot boxes under a different name, each with different prices and different odds. For more information, visit the spins page.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)[]

A: In capture the flag mode, the position of the flag-carrier, when not directly visible to enemies, is updated every few seconds on the enemies' screen.

Q: I keep dying very quickly! Why?

A: Ensure that your "Challenge Mode" setting is turned off, it halves your maximum health.

A: A server can vote to kick a player out of the server. Reasons may vary, but the most common is cheating (e.g. using external aim/vision assistance)

Q: I clearly hit the person, why did it not register?

A: Your internet connection greatly affects your hit registration (hitreg), try connecting to a server closer to where you live for better hitreg. Alternatively, enable the "High Tickrate" option.
