Kristen Stewart attributes her relationship with ex Robert Pattison to being “young and stupid.”
The actress, who recently announced she is engaged to Dylan Meyer, opened up about her long-term relationship with her former “Twilight” co-star in a new interview with The New Yorker.
“It was so clear who worked,” Stewart, 31, said, reflecting on her instant chemistry with Pattinson, 35, when he auditioned to play Edward Cullen to her Bella Swan. “I was literally just, like [swooning].”
Noting the qualities that made her fall for him, the “Spencer” star said the British actor had an “intellectual approach that was combined with ‘I don’t give a f–k about this, but I’m going to make this sing.’ And I was, like, ‘Ugh, same.’”
She added, “And, whatever, we were young and stupid and, not to say that we made it so much better, but that’s what it needed, and that’s what anybody playing those parts needed to feel.”
Stewart dated the “Batman” star from 2009 to 2013.
She went on to date visual effects producer Alicia Cargile and model Stella Maxwell before finding love with Meyer. She and the “Moxie” screenwriter, 33, dated for two years before getting engaged.
“We’re marrying, we’re totally gonna do it,” Stewart shared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show earlier this month. “I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted, and she nailed it. We’re marrying, it’s happening.”
Stewart had previously told Stern, 67, that she couldn’t wait to marry Meyer after just three months of dating her.
“I want to be, like, sort of somewhat reasonable about it, but I think good things happen fast,” she said in 2019. “I have a couple plans that are just the coolest things to do. I’m really impulsive. I don’t know when it’s going to be.”
Meanwhile, Pattinson has been dating model Suki Waterhouse since 2018.
