Kristaps Porzingis signs multi-year extension with Celtics

Porzingis is coming off his best NBA season, averaging a career-high 23.2 points per game.

Kristaps Porzingis will reportedly remain in Boston through the 2025-26 season.

Fresh off his trade from Washington to Boston, veteran center Kristaps Porzingis has agreed to a multi-year extension that will keep him with the Celtics through the 2025-26 season, per TNT’s Chris Haynes.

The team confirmed the extension on July 12.

The Celtics acquired Porzingis, 27, on June 23 in a multi-team trade that sent long-time point guard Marcus Smart to Memphis.

Plagued by injuries throughout his career, Porzingis played in 65 games last season while averaging a career-high 23.2 points with 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.

Also a potent 3-point shooter (38.5% in 2022-23), he should combine with Celtics mainstays Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to form one of the NBA’s best frontcourts.
