Although there has been much speculation about a new Silent Hills game, new rumors indicate that Hideo Kojima and Konami will team up to revive the title for the PlayStation 5. The relationship between Kojima and Konami, though, is a rocky one. At one point, Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions, were responsible for some of Konami's biggest hits throughout the company's history – including the Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid franchises.

Things changed in 2015, though, shortly before the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when Kojima's name was removed from marketing materials. Konami later confirmed Kojima's departure from the company, which also resulted in the cancellation of the highly-anticipated Silent Hills, previously teased as a demo called P.T. Kojima Productions went on to become its own entity, eventually releasing its first non-Konami title, Death Stranding.

P.T. Fans, though, felt cheated about not getting the Silent Hills game. But now it seems there is new hope that Kojima's vision for the title might finally be realized. Speculation has already been floating around within the industry about new titles in the Silent Hill franchise, but new rumors have surfaced, via Rely On Horror, suggesting that Sony wants Kojima and Konami to come together to revive Silent Hills on the PS5. Meanwhile, Sony also potentially has another Silent Hill title, a reboot, planned with SIE Japan Studio.

Aesthetic Gamer also tweeted about evidence pointing to these rumors being true:

According to the speculation, Sony will foot the bill for the projects with Konami continuing to own the I.P. for the franchise. Although it seems impossible that Kojima and Konami could ever put aside their differences given their history, both Rely on Horror and Aesthetic Gamer have a good track record in checking sources for accuracy. It seems P.T. fans are at least a few steps closer to seeing the game they always wanted on Sony's next-generation console. It's still important to remember this is all speculation, though, at this point.

The demand for Silent Hills remains high. Fans are still frustrated about having played the P.T. demo, which left them hanging with no game to show for it. If Sony does manage to make two titles happen, including one with Kojima's involvement, it's going to sell a lot more PlayStation 5 units, regardless of the console's high cost. Silent Hills is one exclusive title Sony could most definitely brag about when it reveals more information about its new console, so hope remains for fans of Kojima and the horror game franchise.
