Excellent Service, Grand old Dame of HK - but getting old and sitting on laurels.

Dont get me wrong, an excellent hotel, but compared to my stay one year ago, (just after Corona was lifted) I now feel that the lounge is very much overcrowded (with waiting times or very bad seats in the back) and the new red wine is a great disappointment, the new flowerly ‘Cote de Rhone for less than 10 Euro. for a Grand Hyatt lounge? Last year this was better managed with 2 different slots of the evening cocktails, leaving room for everyone. In addition, it seems that some quest have priority with sitting every day on the same best corner seat with views over the whole harbor, every day. The same quest in question was already last year occupying the same seat.

Also whilst the food choice is fine, it is repetitive (same ham, same salami) for breakfast and cocktails hours. So more variety could be provided for one of the so call best hotel club in HKG. Whilst surely not bad (still good Champagne), it did not meet my expectation from last year,

The Manager of the lounge is very friendly and makes impossible possible, in the end we had a very nice table, but overall I think there are just too many quests for the size of the lounge that everybody has an excellent table, without priorities to taken places during the whole stay.

For the room, the new water machine is weird. It makes noise and bright light during night, so I had to cover it with a towel. I think nobody tried so far to make tea with the teapot provided in the room and the water machine. You can not place the teapot under the machine, you really need to hold the teapot in a 90degree position during the whole time you pour the hot water into it. Weird.

Also check out in the lounge was cold, but professional. Just charged the credit card etc, but no questions like...how was your stay, did you like it? etc.

With the opening of so many new hotel in HKG, like nearby Ritz Carlton, The Rosewood, or the great 4 Season there is a lot of choice and competition on this price tag.

Excellent Hotel with great view

A great hotel at convenient location. Be sure to book the harbor view room as it is right in front of the Victoria harbor. Staff are friendly and all additional house keeping requests were well catered for.

Lovely hotel and great service, great for families

Really great, quick service. We were travelling with 3 young children and the playground was fantastic. They were very accommodating with cots and bed guards for the children. Rooms are small but well laid out to make the most of the space so it didn’t feel too cramped.

Terrific location with attentive customer service

Memorable Stay

This was our first time in Hong Kong and choosing to stay at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong was one of our best decisions. We are a family of 5 traveling with 3 older children (16, 18, 20) and traveled during Christmas week.

Location: Located next to the Exhibition Center in Wan Chai (Hong Kong island) right next to the Victoria Harbor. It is a 7-8" walk to Wan Chai MTR station and access is easy from the hotel mezzanine level that connects to a walkway which provides coverage during inclement weather. The Exhibition Center MTR station and Wai Chai ferry station are also a 7-8" walk. We utilized the Wan Chai MTR station a lot and it is easy and quick access to Tsim Sha Tsui (Avenue of the Stars), Central to Star Ferry Pier, Tung Chung Station (Ngong Ping 360 sky tram, Big Buddha-Lantau Island), and other parts of Hong Kong. There is a bus conveniently located that takes you to Victoria Peak tram station. The hotel is within walking distance on the MTR walkway to many restaurants, 7/11, K Circle convenience store, McDonalds, and eating options for all budgets.

Rooms: Very clean and modern. We had 2 interconnecting rooms (1 king + 2 twins with rollaway bed) on the 29th floor with amazing views of Victoria Harbour. The beds were on the firmer side which I prefer. There is a mini bar for purchase but the Nespresso coffee, teas, and bottled mineral waters are complimentary. The quality of the towels are good, very nice and thick. The shower and tub are separate. We did not use the tub but the shower has a rain shower head and a removable shower hose. The automatic blinds and black out blinds were a nice addition to the room compared to traditional manual operated curtains and blinds. The temperature of the room was good and their ventilation system was pretty quiet. We all slept well and our room was not stuffy at night and we did not wake up with sore, dry throats.

Service: The service we received pre-arrival and during our entire stay was impeccable. The hotel manager communicated with me by phone prior to my arrival to ensure that all my requests were well noted. All the staff from the bellhop, valet, check in, housekeeping, and club lounge departments were professional, friendly, and attentive to our needs. All staff are fluent in English and Cantonese.

Club Lounge: Located on the 31st floor with a variety of delicious Eastern and Western dishes set up buffet style. The breakfast was our favorite because of the set menu options.

Overall A+++
