I thoroughly enjoyed reading my first book authored by Kimberly Cates. I assure you that it will not me my last. (I just purchased the next in the Celtic Rogues series -- Briar Rose. There are lots of really good people I the book who care deeply about others in the area. Despite very limited resources, poor treatment by despicable overseers, people carry on to the best of their ability. You will want to get to know Mary Fallon Delaney, Hugh Delaney, the mystical Ciaran of the Mist, Maeve McGinty, and James Butler. The story would not be complete without knowledge of the devious and all-seeing English Captain Lionel Redmayne. The Captain not only wishes to capture the elusive Irish thief who is stealing goods, food and other needed items from the English but he has conquest of a certain Irish lass in mind. You'll want to see how this all turns out...

This is such a beautiful and magical love story. It takes place in mystical Ireland. Fallon's mother is dying and her English father left her brother Hugh and her long ago and died. Fallon's mother gives her a brooch that has been handed down from mother to daughter for generations. Fallon feels the urgency to use the brooch to bring an Irish hero to help her. She was instructed to put it in the hearth of a ruined castle on a certain night. She did and when the moonlight struck it, it glowed. A sound, it was the English captain. After he left, she found a naked man who had a gash on his head and no memory of who he is. She is convinced he is the Irish hero she called. So begins an epic love story, and a really good story. For mature readers.

This is my first book of the series I've read and it is a stand alone. I own 5 books by this author and this was enjoyable, but somewhat long.

There is lovemaking within marriage and heat level 3.5 out of 5. I really did enjoy this couple for the most part and when they made love it was full of passion for me.

The somewhat villain in this story, is in H in the next one and I can't wait to see how the author will make him a H when he was a nasty one in this story.

This is filled with folklore but it was ridiculously to me, just a culture of amazing people trying to keep their traditions and stories alive.

We have no cheating, no cliffhanger and an HEA that was smile worthy. I enjoyed the ending and the epilogue 10 years in the future.

I am not going into the premise, as many have explained it better than I can, just what you may discover reading it.(ljb)

Enjoyable fairy tale read. On a steamy scale, it might be a 3--fairly descriptive physical love within marriage. There is a wonderful dance sequence at about the 66% point that is a highlight. There is a rip-roaring climax leading to the happy ending. The epilogue takes place at a nice interval after the end of the action. There is a lovely twist to the whole story revealed in the epilogue that will make you smile--not that there aren't a couple of hints that there's more to the story than initially meets the eye.

An amazing love story! There are so many twists and turns that it’s impossible to predict. As usual, a happy ending is expected, but it seemed completely impossible. I was expecting the ending of “For Whom the Bell Tolls” or “A Tale of Two Cities”. Ciaran and Fallon were such an unusual couple! I’m usually impatient about myths and magic, but it was perfect in this story. I just wish I could pronounce the Irish names.
