A second season for the Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu (A Returner's Magic Should Be Special) television anime was announced following the broadcast of its 12th and final episode on Sunday. Aniplex simultaneously posted an announcement promo and a commemorative visual (pictured).

Produced by Arvo Animation, the anime began airing on October 8. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles outside of Asia and subsequently began streaming an English dub.

Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu adapts So-nan Yoo and Uk-jakga's action fantasy manhwa, which in turn is an adaptation of Yoo's nine-volume web novel that ran in KakaoPage between September 2016 and August 2019. The same platform began serializing the manhwa in May 2018. D&C Media released the fourth volume on May 22, with the fifth volume shipping on December 28.

Tappytoon began publishing the manhwa in English digitally in June 2020. Yen Press licensed the series in English for physical release in October 2021 and shipped the second volume on April 18. The third volume is planned for a March 19, 2024 release.

Web magazine and app Piccoma has been serializing tha manhwa in Japan since July 2019. Kadokawa published the third physical volume on October 23.

Great!!!! I can't wait. This show worked well enough for me. 😋

I'd love to see the world flushed out. But based on the reviews of its source, it's extremely unlikely that any world building will happen. Instead, we will get more cheaply animated fights, which, if you accept the cheapness, is animated well enough. (Except the Rapier part. That's just bad direction.)

@Sleabedybarb pretty sure the person youre replying to, in a very needlessly aggresive way if i must say, was refering to the fact that the manhwa is pretty well known and enjoyed, so thats why theres a demand and hence the decision of making two seasons right from the start. Please try to be more assertive with the way you communicate, youre a bit too aggressive. Anyway, happy holidays everyone ^^

Anyway, discussing the matter above is kinda pointless. It got S2, and that's about it.

And I rejoice. Hoping they don't fumble or skip over too many things kek.

@Piromysl I keep fumbling my replies to you, but here's the deal:
it's not that the japanese audience likes it, it got a second season because the production committee decided on making two seasons from day one of production.

@Sleabedybarb
So, where did I said exactly that sequel was decided after 1st season finished airing?

Dec 24, 2023 1:06 PM by Piromysl

@Piromysl You said it was because, and I quote, "it's because Japanese audience likes it and enjoys it, so there is a demand"
These things are decided before a show even airs.

@Piromysl Yes?
Listen, when a second season is announced right after the last episode airs, it means that they were planning on it regardless of whether nips liked the show or not.
Demand has nothing to do with it.
Learn how anime production works.

Point me where exactly I said, that they decided to do second season just now.
Because I'm pretty sure I didn't said that.

@Piromysl The right word would be "thank them" IMHO. 🤭🤭🤭

Anyway, I'm seriously hyped for more action from Desir.

Yeah no, this was already planned regardless of whether it was popular or not.
You don't know how anime production works.

@Piromysl I heard it was a fail in japan too

@Piromysl I haven't seen the show, but I've stopped being surprised that anything is getting a sequel now anyway.
