An aspect of Sullivan's career that many fans either likely did not know about or have already totally forgotten about was his debut in Ring of Honor. Taking place in 2016, nearly twenty years since his last major on-screen run in a wrestling company, Kevin Sullivan would begin to appear for ROH. Making his shock arrival at the Best in the World PPV, Sullivan used his golden spike to take out Steve Corino during an Unsanctioned Match between Corino and BJ Whitmer. This run did not last long for Kevin Sullivan, as he was gone from ROH within a year, though he would give praise to those he worked with and other stars such as Jay Lethal, Jay Briscoe, Dalton Castle, and Cody Rhodes.

Since his exit from WCW in 2001, Kevin Sullivan has continued his wrestling career on the independent circuit, working in various promotions and regularly appearing at conventions for interviews and meet and greets with fans. Working as both a manager and wrestler, Sullivan's last match came in 2019 against Brian Pillman Jr., though he has not officially announced his second retirement yet. Speaking with WWE.com in 2007 for a "Where Are They Now?" article, Sullivan also revealed that he is in the lobster business, catching and selling lobsters alongside a friend of his.

In 2022, Kevin Sullivan returned to the spotlight in a bit of a strange way, as he and former WCW star, J.J. Dillon, appeared on the Judge Steve Harvey show. During the episode, Dillon announced that he was suing Sullivan for failing to repay him for a loan that Sullivan needed in order to buy a boat. The court ruled in Dillon's favor, though Steve Harvey decided to pay for the loan instead due to their friendship and all that Dillon and Sullivan gave to wrestling fans during their careers. It was a strange, deep cut, with neither man being true mainstream stars, but it was an interesting story to see play out for two stars of the 1990s.
