Farrellys may unite Damon, Kinnear for conjoined-twins comedy

”Stuck on You,” another twisted-but-heartwarming tale of oddballs from the Farrelly brothers (”Dumb and Dumber,” ”There’s Something About Mary”), has been stuck in development for a decade. Now, however, Variety reports that it’s become unstuck, now that Greg Kinnear and Matt Damon are available to play the main characters, a pair of conjoined twins who move to Hollywood to follow one twin’s dream of becoming a movie star.

Peter and Bobby Farrelly plan to direct the film in February, with an eye toward a fall release. Like their other movies, it’ll be gross but not too gross, aiming for a PG-13 rating. The greenlight from 20th Century Fox means that the Farrellys’ other project — a new Three Stooges comic adventure using the characters originated by the late Moe and Curly Howard and Larry Fine — will wait until 2004 to shoot.

Kinnear, currently on screen in ”Auto Focus,” is also up for a role opposite Robert De Niro and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos in the cloning thriller ”Godsend.” Damon, according to the Hollywood Reporter, is director John Woo’s first choice to star in the sci-fi thriller ”Paycheck.” At least Kinnear, 39, and Damon, 32, are relatively close in age and might make plausible twins. Not like the Farrellys’ original choices for the roles, two actors who were born 26 years apart: Jim Carrey and Woody Allen.
