Nicki Minaj appears to have gotten married, prompting excited fans to scour the internet in search of any information they can find on her new husband.

On Monday, the 36-year-old rapper took to Instagram to share the news of her nuptials to 41-year-old fellow music industry professional Kenneth "Zoo" Petty.

"Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19," she wrote, captioning a video that shows black-and-white "Mr." and "Mrs." mugs alongside "bride" and "groom" hats.

The couple reportedly obtained a marriage license in a Beverly Hills Courthouse at the end of July—after less than a year of dating, according to E! News. Minaj announced that she was dating Petty in December of 2018, often referring to him as the "Ken to her Barbie."

Read on for five fast facts about Petty's past.

He met Nicki Minaj when she was 16.

According to TMZ, the couple date back to Minaj's high school days. Petty met Minaj when she 16, still living in Queens, New York. "Our sources say Nicki and Kenneth still have great chemistry, despite all the years between their relationships," the outlet wrote. "We're told she was very stressed out before they got back together, but she's much happier since rekindling their romance.

As People noted, Minaj had also spoke of the couple's shared history in her verse on Chance the Rapper's song "Zanies and Fools."

The lyrics go: "I met my husband when I was 17 out in Queens / If you love it, let it go, now I know what that means / While he was up North for a body / I bodied everybody and got known for my body."

He is a registered sex offender.

Petty is a level two registered sex offender in the state of New York. In 1995, he was found guilty of attempted rape, subsequently serving almost four years in prison, according to Us Weekly. The incident took place in September of the previous year, involving a 16-year-old girl. Petty was also 16 at the time.

As People noted, Minaj defended her marriage to Petty on Instagram, writing: "He was 15, she was 16 ... in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y'all can't run my life. Y'all can't even run y'all own life. Thank you boo."

He has had additional run-ins with the law.

In 2006, Petty pleaded guilty to a first-degree manslaughter charge tied to a shooting death in 2002. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released in 2013.

In March, TMZ reported that Petty pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license.

He had reportedly been stopped by a police officer in Long Island after driving through a stop sign around 1:30 a.m. in September 2018. According to the website, Petty had to pay $88 in fines for the incident.

All in all, Petty has 12 mugshots on record with the various New York police departments, according to Media Take Out, which dubbed the newlywed "a TOP LEVEL Queens NY street 'OG.'"

He's a father of five.

Bossip has reported claims that Petty is the father of five children, while Media Take Out asserts that he plays an active role in his children's lives.

More children may be in the couple's future.

In September, the "Barbie Dreams" rapper took to Twitter with the news that she was leaving music to focus on family life.

"I've decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now," Minaj wrote in a now-deleted tweet. "To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, in the box- cuz ain't nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE."

She later walked back the statement, calling her tweet "abrupt" and "insensitive." She apologized, writing that she is "right here" and "still madly in love" with her fans.
