Kathleen Biden has had a very powerful shoulder to cry on as she recovers from her divorce from Hunter Biden and the humiliating aftermath — Michelle Obama.
The mom of three, now known as Kathleen Buhle Biden, has become a regular on the DC social scene, has a new boyfriend and “is doing great,” a source said.
“One of her closest friends is Michelle Obama. They hang out a lot,” said the source.
The pair have been friends since Joe Biden was vice president — and often go to SoulCycle together.
Kathleen’s three girls are also friendly with the Obama daughters — with Maisy Biden, Kathleen’s youngest daughter, particularly tight with Sasha Obama.
Kathleen has struggled to get her life back on track after a distressing divorce from Hunter in 2017.
Their divorce ended 22 years of marriage that included drug and cheating allegations.
Kathleen accused Hunter in court records of blowing the family’s savings on drugs and prostitutes, though neither side contested the divorce and they reached a private settlement.
That same year, Hunter began dating his brother’s widow, Hallie Biden — as first reported by Page Six — and that relationship became the talk of the town in DC.
At the time, Joe Biden told us: “We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness. They have mine and Jill’s full and complete support and we are happy for them.”
However, as the New York Times reported in February, “the new family dynamic led to awkward moments at soccer games and family holidays.”
Kathleen Biden now works full-time at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project and recently beamed in photos at their gala.
That event featured appearances by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Rep. Debbie Dingell.
As far as Hunter is concerned, following his split from Hallie Biden, our source said he is spending “copious amounts of time in California.”
He had been living with Hallie in Delaware.
In January, he insisted that his love life should not deter his father from running for president, saying: “We don’t pretend that we are different from families all over America that have to face the loss of loved ones, or have to deal with the fallout of divorces.”
