Two noughties icons aging like fine wine? Kate Moss and Balenciaga’s City bag. A few days ago, the stars aligned, and the two came together for a street-style moment that highlighted the best of the early 2000s, with a fresh twist.

The seasoned supermodel stepped out to walk her dog in London’s Notting Hill, looking every bit an OG It girl, ever so coolly wrapped in a massive snowy-white faux-fur coat. Moss layered the statement piece over a slouchy black minidress, which she wore over matte black tights and paired with the sexiest thigh-high boots—these in skintight black leather with sharp stiletto heels.

But the pièce de résistance of the fit was Demna’s reimagined Le City bag—the crunchy black Arena lambskin handbag with shiny silver studs and hardware. The boho staple has evolved quite a bit since its debut in 2001, under the tenure of Nicolas Ghesquière.

Once known as the Motorcycle City Bag, the messy, off-duty-look handbag landed on the hands of It girls and models including Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie—and yes, a fresh-faced Kate Moss at the height of her career. Now, Demna has brought it back. And given the revival that old-school staples like denim maxi skirts, low-rise pants, and even jorts are enjoying, we can’t imagine a better moment for its return.
