EDUCATOR BIO:
I love teaching all ages and experience levels in addition to performing with a variety of groups as a professional trumpet player in New York City. I have been an Adjunct Instructor at New York University for over seven years, where I teach private undergraduate trumpet lessons. In addition to private students, I have been invited as a guest artist and clinician at several universities and conferences both in the US, Costa Rica, and in Japan. I also have experience teaching for several years at various El Sistema inspired programs including the Harmony Program, Baltimore Symphony’s Orch Kids, and with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Many of my private students have competed and scored highly at NYSSMA, became first chair in their ensembles, and auditioned successfully for various honor groups including the Lincoln Center Middle School Jazz Academy, Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra, and the NYC All City Latin Ensemble. In addition to teaching private lessons, I have been a Teaching Artist for several years at various schools working with students on the elements of music, storytelling, and more.
Masterclasses – available for college and high school students
I love making an impact on students and sharing what I’ve learned as a freelancer and an educator. I have presented my masterclasses both in person and virtually to over twenty five universities across the country and internationally including University of Toronto, Arizona State University, Boise State University, the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, and more. I love listening to students play, giving feedback and sharing my experiences as a performer and educator. As a speaker, Amrine has been featured on many panel discussions including Bria Skonberg’s Female and Non Binary Trumpet Summit, Women in Brass sponsored by Denis Wick and a pre concert panel entitled: Peligrosa: Women Musicians Breaking Ground at Strathmore Music Center. Kate has been interviewed on the Trumpet Gurus Podcast, Bold as Brass Podcast, the HerStory Podcast, and as a Denis Wick Artist for their blog.

Through her advocating for underrepresented voices in music, Kate recently co - founded Brass Out Loud - a new organization dedicated to inspiring and uplifting all brass players. Brass Out Loud held its inaugural workshop in 2021 featuring 23 faculty members of which 70% were female, trans, non binary, and/or BIPOC. Kate also co-leads a facebook group for Female, Trans, and Non Binary brass players where she actively curates a supportive and learning environment for all. Several years ago she directed the Brass Chicks blog, where she writes and curates posts about brass playing and performing as well as interviews prominent female brass players.
