- David LWest Des Moines, IA179 contributionsCannot say enough about this place. Very well done displays. A complete review of the history of WW I. The write ups were easy to read and in chronological order. There were many volunteer people who asked us several times if we had any questions. We did and they seemed to know their history and were more than willing to share it. This is one of the most complete WWI museums in the country. Anyone who is a history buff will want to visit here.Written May 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tim ASeattle, WA74 contributionsHow had I not known about this world-class museum? Seriously. A heartbreaking Caravaggio that yanks you in from the hallway like a magnet. Outstanding collection of impressionists and post-impressionists. Greek and Roman sculptures. A few bell ringers by painters like Cranach the Elder. A fragment of a Bosch. Warm and welcoming staff. Although there were lots of school children, they were all respectful and engaged. The museum is free, though parking was $14. Totally worth it.Written May 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Cassel12Herriman, UT264 contributionsA wonderful glimpse into the past! The stories and history of steamboat travel and all of the beautifully preserved artifacts is amazing. I had no idea an entire steamboat was found relatively intact in a farmers field. Well worth the admission and worth a few hours if you’re in KC.Written May 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Barbara MWinfield, MO40 contributionsFabulous architecture. So much history. We traveled by Amtrak to and from Union Station. It was such a treat to visit a building that we know at one time, was a huge part of travel historyWritten May 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Phil RKansas City, MO705 contributionsThe museum was a lot better than I expected. For a free museum it is very good. There was a good (and honest) telling of the history of the era and baseball at the time. But (as a middle-aged white man), the way the history was told did not make me feel uncomfortable at all. As a baseball fan, it was very educational and fun. A very good 15-minute movie was shown in a mini theater. There were some good displays showing life for a Negro League player on the road at the time. I would have given it 5 stars, but the space could have been used better. I would love to see the museum expanded into some of the empty space in the building. This would make the displays easier to appreciate. But I am extremely happy that I visited.Written April 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- sirenazulclaroNew York City, NY239 contributionsA walkable plaza with lots of shops and dining, about 20 minutes walk from the Nelson-Atkins art museum. It can be a nice leisurely stroll stop while in Kansas City.Written April 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - THDetroit, MI17 contributionsWe’ve done many stadium tours for football, baseball and soccer. This tour is among the best! Informative and access to some great areas of the stadium! Highly recommend.Written March 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PMiller40Shawnee, KS71 contributionsThere has been so many improvements at the zoo. There is plenty of room for more improvements. It is well worth the cost. I was disappointed with the food and employees. Ate at the restaurant in the Africa section and they were not friendly, and couldn't cook the fries correctly. I don't like eating uncooked or barely cooked fries. Don't say on your menu board that the fries are smothered in bacon when there's only a couple of pieces. Employees need training on being friendly. Smiles are hard to come by at the zoo. The zoo is big so get ready for a lot of walking. There is EV chairs that you can rent for the day and they are easy to use. If you can afford the cost, purchase the FOTZ membership. Save on admissions not only at the KC Zoo but also at reciprocating zoos.Written April 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John PFlyover Country, USA159 contributionsI’ve been a member of Science City since my son was 10. He’s in his 30s, now my granddaughter is 7. She loves it. There are plenty of physical fitness activities to do, there are knowledge activities to discover, there are arts activities to help their creativity. She especially loves the indoor and outdoor play spaces, where she can exercise herself truly to exhaustion.
It’s the kind of science experience for children every large city should have!Written March 5, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had this place on our list of must visit attractions in Kansas City so it wasn't really a hidden gem but it had a very quaint and simple effort to it. The ladies at the ticket counter were super friendly and helpful.
The museum itself is a two story building with the first floor being almost entirely devoted to dollhouse miniatures. My wife and I were more fascinated with the second story which contained many toys from our childhood.
My only disappointment was the lack of any souvenirs in their gift shop. We did purchase a magnet though.Written May 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We made a reservation ahead of time. The host Tony was absolutely engaging and funny. The whole set up is great. The alcohol tasting was amazing. And we fell in love with the botanical gin. We also had fun watching the video about the history of this bar. A definite must!Written December 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
