Three women contemplate their relationship with convicted serial killer Richard Ramirez.
Просто парень
One of the more eerily personal examinations I've seen through the short documentary format, greatly amplified by its use of animation. You feel like you really get to know these women's perception of Richard Ramirez and the hold over them individually which is...uncomfortable, but it definitely sets out what it achieves to do incredibly well.
Yeah, I don't know what to say, and I’m not surprised tho. Some girls are just naturally set weird standards for themselves. I mean, some girls are also set no standards at all. This is terrible; it’s okay to set up your criteria and save yourself for any kind of action that could probably be harmful. I told you, this is not the only case that a serial killer has so much attention and love from fans. Remember Ted Bundy, who has fans to defend him too? Some girls have this “bad guy complex,” especially to those good-looking serial killers. For one thing, bad boys almost always fit the cliche that girls like guys that are tall, dark, and handsome.…
Animációs doku 3 nő beszámolójával a Richard Ramirezzel való kapcsukról, miután már börtönben ült (csak 15 perc, nézd meg):
Offers a look into the dark, intense world of someone who’s experienced the mindset of finding horrible people like Richard Ramirez romantic, or sexy, subtly showing all of the different ways this is messed up, and the ways they were being manipulated, without ever needing to outright say it. It criticizes the mentality, while still being sympathetic to the people who fell victim to it. The gross, grimey stop motion style used to showcase romance and sexuality perfectly represents the messed up sexual and romantic world they lived in. This is really, truly great.
please make a full feature in this style, or at least dozens more shorts. this is amazing.
(also uh, the director herself passively sexted richard ramirez? lmao)
Suitably creepy-looking 15-minute documentary made by a woman who was in contact with Richard Ramirez at the time of his incarceration. Really quite mind-boggling to hear her and two other women almost giggle their way through talking about one of the most brutal serial killers of the 20th century.
"I mean everyone is kind of supporting children or animals and stuff like that but not so many people are supporting death row inmates," one says after discussing sending him feet pics.
Can be watched on YouTube, found thanks to ozufan's fantastic list on American post-war documentaries.
A brilliant intersection of documentary and experimental animation. Equally charming as it is disturbing. Shoka Hara’s blend of dark humor, gritty realism, surreal visuals, and crude imagery make it a truly unique, absolutely unmissable film.
