About
Located in Lighthouse Park, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum offers climbing tours of the landmark 1860 lighthouse. Outdoor exhibits include the Oil House & Keepers Workshop Exhibit, Tindall Pioneer Homestead, and Seminole Chickee. Self-guided tours in English, French, & Spanish are available! Docent led tours are available Tuesday - Friday. Enjoy shopping our gift shop and check online for our adult and kids’s programs, sunset & moonrise tours, weddings & proposals, and special events. Hiking trails and observation tower are located on the north & south side of Beach Road. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the 120-acre federally designated, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Please note: we are closed September 11-22, 2023, for routine maintenance.

It should be easy to find but with the current re-construction of the bridge, it's a little more difficult...just follow the detour signs. It is located in a park way in the back...just keep following the road. Once you're there, it's a lovely park setting and well-run. There is a small shop where you buy your tickets. Upon entering the park, someone in a booth will give you a map and explain everything on the grounds. When you get to the lighthouse, you will have to wait and go up as a group as there can only be so many people in the lighthouse at one time and there isn't room for two-way traffic on the stairs. It's an easy climb and the view is great. The grounds are pretty to walk around and the new dock is nice for viewing the lighthouse and taking pictures. On your way our you'll get a certificate for climbing the lighthouse. It was a nice experience.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 5, 2023

The staff tried to time the going up and down to avoid crowding on the stairs. Beautiful views but not amazing. The area around the lighthouse is beautifully landscaped. At $12 a head even to get within 100 yards of the place is ridiculous! I can see if you want to go inside, but just to LOOK at it? That's really greedy. A family of 4 that can't afford $48 wouldn't even be permitted to get close to the lighthouse just to See it or take a photo, they'd be turned away. I'm sorry but that straight up sucks! And they're not even nice about it. The lighthouse is nothing special, quite plain looking. The view from up top is nice, but you could see that from the window of any condo in the area. The tiny gift shop has some cute things for kids though. Spend your money elsewhere, this "attraction" and it's unwelcoming caretakers are not worth it!

There were two different museums on the grounds:
Lighthouse museum was a well curated collection of displays packed into a tiny building. From biographies of the Jupiter light keepers, how much light keepers were paid and what they did to the construction and design of the light house it a was very informative.
Main museum (inside an old Naval Building) was next to the gift shop and covered a breadth of subjects from the Seminoles, native Americans, who lived in the area, the life saving rescues and equipment used by the precursor to the Coast Guard, details on the San Miguel Archangel (Spanish wreck) found nearby and its secretive WWII role in hunting U boats.
On the lighthouse grounds:
The Tindall House housed some period furniture and insights into this local family.
Huge grouping of banyan (?) trees provided a nice covered spot to get out of the sun.
The lighthouse itself was accessed via a steep flight of stairs after waiting for the prior visitors to exit. There was approximately 105 steps with three landings inside to take a rest. Once at the top you can peek into the electric lamp but watch your head.
Once outside the aerial views of Jupiter Bay were amazing. I believe the highest vantage point for this part of Florida. The guide pointed out some key sights but also let us know that Jupiter Bay was home to many sports players so one had a high probability of bumping into someone famous while out and about.
Well worth the stop to visit. $12 for adults with discounts for seniors, military and children.

Wow is this place awesome, I could not more highly recommend! Going up into the lighthouse is so rad. You are still currently required to wear a mask the whole time, so I was a little worried that it would be absolutely miserable and I would feel like I’m dying a little bit. But, it actually wasn’t too bad climbing up to the top! And they take groups of around 15 people at a time, so you can rest if you want to and you won’t get in anyone’s way. And the view at the top- holy cow, so cool!! Just absolutely beautiful and mesmerizing, there’s something so different about being able to stand at the top of such a large, cool, historic structure and see all around you for miles and miles. There are a lot of other little houses and parts of the museum as well where you can read more about this lighthouse and area. I found it so fascinating how Jupiter used to literally be no mans land out in the middle of nowhere and to then think of what it’s become today, it’s pretty crazy. Such a gorgeous little area, it’s even nice just to sit in the gardens and enjoy the day, definitely come here if you have the chance! It’s an experience not like many others! (They do also have a small gift shop and bathrooms near the lighthouse)

I read the literature before going, and it sounded like there were expansive gardens and places to walk. But other then some shrubs, not really much of a garden. And you can't really walk anywhere--it's all off limits. Very small footprint where we were allowed. Basically, one path to the lighthouse and back. To make sure you don't enjoy the inlet next to the museum, there is not a single bench or chair on the property facing the water (okay, a couple chairs on the porch of the museum I think? But not the same.) The museum is sweet? But we're talking 15 minutes tops. I picked a beautiful day because i thought I would be taking a beautiful walk. So i was very disappointed in my visit.

Myself and girlfriends first Lighthouse experience was amazing. Went to one in Jupiter Florida that I had always seen pictures of most of my life either by yearly calendars or pictures. We were amazed at the beauty of the lighthouse and appreciated the volunteers that work there with there friendliness and eagerness to talk about the grounds. Truly a must see when in the area.
Then after up close and personal we went to eat at Jetty's Restaurant across the water from the Lighthouse for dinner and cocktails. The food and the view was absolutely gorgeous. Weather was beautiful a warm and clear evening watching the water and the lighthouse. I would without a doubt Highly recommend the Jupiter Florida Lighthouse and Jetty's for any occasion.
This was truly the experience of a lifetime.

1860 lighthouse - 34 steps to the base & 105 steps to the top. Small groups were allowed up at one time. There's a knowledgeable, friendly lighthouse docent at the top to answer questions, etc. Great view. We could see the West Palm Beach skyline in the distance & bull sharks in the water below. Admission is $12 for adults & $6 for children ages 6 - 18. Take time to enjoy the view from the shoreline pier as well.

Super fun visit to the lighthouse in Jupiter. For $12 you get to climb to the top (105 steps to the top) and go to the museum. The grounds is well kept and has a beautiful tree covering the entrance of the lighthouse. The views at the top is 360 degrees of the coast.

Great visit to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Our group of 8 visited last week and really enjoyed the climb and views ~ We had a beautiful sunny day with clear sky. The volunteers were all very helpful and knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts and keeping everyone spread out to maintain safe distance. Everyone was wearing a mask and it was not too crowded. They also sent us up in small groups that made it nice. Would recommend stopping if you are in the area.

The good...awesome views, clear blue water. We even saw a manatee. The grounds were prestine. The bad...As we were enjoying the grounds, waiting for the ticket counter to open, We were rudely approached by an elderly staff member informing us that admission wasn't free? As if we thought we didn't have to pay.The younger guy working the gift shop was very nice and polite. I'm not sure how he can stand working with these old volunteers who seem to be on a power trip. GAIL was probably the single rudest person we had encountered. The younger girl told us all exhibits were open. . When we approached The Village, She literally screamed at us. Leon, who was at the top at the lighthouse was friendly and
informative. Visit for the views, but be prepared for rude staff. The rude volunteers are in serious need of hospitality training.

Wonderful grounds and location.
Our biggest bummer was that they have limited the museum hours so we missed that part of the facility.
Still, our local friends who were with us assured us that this is a great tour stop so we'll return when the hours are extended again.
That said, even with the facility closed, we were able to walk around the grounds and read a bit about the history of the location.
It's worth a stop.
Onward!

Hello Sharon,
Great question! Because it is a federally protected historic site and ecologically sensitive, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area does not allow pets. This area includes the Lighthouse & Museum, nature trails, Lighthouse Park sports recreation field and shoreline. The town of Jupiter does offer some very nice pet-friendly parks and beaches for enjoying the outdoors with your furry family.

Is the Jupiter museum and lighthouse open ? On google maps it said temporary close . Are we allowed to climb up to the top at this time ? What’s Days open ?

I can’t answer that question ! I would just call the museum and that info!! To get an awesome look at the lighthouse, go to one of the outdoor seating restaurants across the waterway and catch it at dusk/dark!! Although red, it is lit at night and looks white! The outdoor restaurants to eat and view from is Jetty’s or Square Grouper!! Enjoy!

There’s no way of getting up to the lighthouse in a wheelchair. It wouldn’t be my choice of attraction for anyone with a disability,

The historic 1860 Lighthouse does not have a ramp. However, the Museum, grounds, Tindall Pioneer Homestead, and Lighthouse Deck and Keeper's Workshop are. We also have video, printed materials at the Museum and deck. This year we are working on tour apps showcasing various parts of the property.
