Archived old discussions[edit]

To anyone watching this talk page, I've moved old discussions to the subpage Archive 1, to prevent a cluttered talk page, per an EFFP request. EggRoll97 (talk) 07:57, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re-write[edit]

Have commenced an entire re-write of this article, taking on board some of the comments made on the talk page previously, and as the article had become disjointed and confused. This hopefully attempts to keep it concise, using existing Reynolds refs plus both Belle-Fortune and James - the three most key texts relating to jungle.

Have also tried to incorporate some sense of how the sound developed from breakbeat hardcore, darkcore, and that phase of jungle techno and hardcore jungle, include reference to the DJs, radio stations, artists and big tracks.

Some paragraphs exist from the previous article which need work - the subsection 'Crossover with drum and bass' is unsatisfactory, and could do with some references/commentary on the relationship and development between jungle/d'n'b - where in some cases they are interchangeable, but in others clearly whole new subgenres of drum and bass and the directions that Goldie, Ed Rush, Trace, Doc Scott, Bukem, Rider, Optical, etc. went in post 94- created a distinct space between what is considered jungle and what is drum and bass. 77.86.103.78 (talk) 16:06, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I removed some supposedly notable example tracks that were from artists without Wikipedia pages. Binksternet (talk) 19:07, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but they are notable within the genre. Notability in terms of Wikipedia (especially the criteria for getting new articles accepted and reliance on particularly mainstream media/press as sources) is always going to mean that any music/cultural scenes outside of the/less mainstream are going to be negatively impacted by that. I personally believe that makes articles all the poorer for it. 77.86.103.78 (talk) 19:12, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Update the re-emergent jungle scene section???[edit]

Can i, or someone else update this section to include references to more modern jungle music? The most recent example of jungle music on this page is Chase And Status "rtn 2 jngl" or whatever, which while a fine album, is just that! one album. it would be good to include references to contemporary artists working in the style like tim reaper, coco bryce, labels like western lore and rupture london, that one lobster theremin offshoot (i forget the name), etc, regardless of whether or not they have wikipedia pages already.
