This sequel shows the future potential for this franchise, and honestly astounds me that it's taken someone so long to make a film that allows for this kind of creativity.Being able to not only have this level of talent, but being able to expand the universe by adding other actors/characters that go into the game so that our A-list stars can be in the movie again, but also play a new character in a new story is just... it's so genius. I hope they make a 3rd because I would love to see Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson tackle 2 new actors' personalities. I don't want to ruin it, but they're playing new people this time and it may not be Oscar-worthy acting but boy is it a riot of laughs.Akwafina is a welcome addition, as well as a few others who came to play this time. I would love to hear commentary tracks with the lead 4 for these movies, but alas that will probably never happen. This is a direct sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which was partly a sequel and partly a reboot of the 1995 Robin Williams movie. It begins after a time jump when Spencer is in college in NY in a long-distance relationship with Martha, but feeling depressed and cut off from the group of friends. He returns home for Christmas break to find that his grandfather Eddie, played by Danny DeVito is staying in his room while recovering from hip surgery. It is not giving away anything to say he ends up in the game and the rest of the group goes back in to get him out, with unexpected consequences. One of which (again not giving anything away) is that Eddie and his frienemy Milo (played by Danny Glover) end up in the game as well.

All of the main cast of characters who appear in the game, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas all appear. But, this time The Rock and Kevin Hart have to play DeVito and Glover's characters (to hilarious results) and Jack Black has to play Fridge. There are also new characters in the game, including Rory McCann (The Hound from Game Of Thrones, and one of the few outside pro wrestling who can make The Rock look small) playing the big-bad, Jurgen The Brutal, and Awkwafina. Colin Hanks also reprises his role, in a bit of a larger role than he had in the first movie (but not much).

For those who get the movie on 4k, it looks and sounds great on UHD. The UHD disc has just previews that play after the disc loads, and the movie itself. On the regular blu-ray disc, the extras include approximately an hour's worth of making-of and behind-the-scenes material, a gag reel, and the same previews as on the UHD disc. A good amount of extras, especially since there are fewer extras being included on the physical disc releases these days.

Overall, the movie uses the same formula as the first, a blend of comedy, action, and a bit of drama. Yes, there is quite a bit of bad language and some off-color jokes. So, if you are one that would be driven nuts by that, this is not for you. From what I remember the first movie was not exactly squeaky clean either, but this is definitely not a movie for young kids like the original 1995 movie was. The Rock and Kevin Hart are awesome playing old geezers, and once Awkwafina shows up, she pretty much steals every scene she is in. A mid-credits scene clearly sets up a third movie, that will definitely take things in a different direction. While I cannot say that everyone will like the movie, but if you were a fan of the 2017 movie, this is definitely worth checking out.

Nachdem ich schon Jumanji - Willkommen im Dschungel als 3D Blu-ray gekauft hatte, entschied ich mich ebenfalls für die Fortsetzung Jumanji - The Next Level. Diese Fortsetzung gab es leider in Deutschland nur im Kino als 3D. Sony brachte dann zwar etwas später doch noch auch eine 3D Blu-ray heraus, jedoch ohne deutsche Synchronisation oder deutschem Untertitel. Also kaufte ich mir von Jumanji - The Next Level zuerst die 2D Blu-ray und jetzt im Nachgang auch die 3D Blu-ray mit der englischer Synchronisation.

Das Gute ist, sowohl die englische 3D Version, als auch die deutsche 2D Version haben den gleichen Videoschnitt und sind auch identisch von der Laufzeit. So war es mir möglich, beide Versionen auf eine Festplatte zu rippen und danach die englische Tonspur durch die deutsche Tonspur zu ersetzen. So liegt mir jetzt auch eine 3D Version von Jumanji - The Next Level mit deutscher Sprache vor, die vollständig synchron ist.

Daher vergebe ich für diese 3D Blu-ray vier Sterne. Einen Stern ziehe ich ab, da Sony nicht auch die deutsche Tonspur dieser Blu-ray mit zugefügt hatte. Denn technisch wäre das wohl kein großer Aufwand gewesen.

Nun endlich doch eine BD-3D vom UK-Markt! Ich war ja erst misstrauisch, ob denn eine 3D- BluRay kommt bei den Bewertungen vor mir. Hab es aber doch gewagt und die ca. 40€ teure Bestellung aufgegeben und siehe da, es kam eine doppel-Disc natürlich in Englisch.
Schade finde ich nur, dass nicht alle Formate auf dem deutschen Marke verfügbar sind. Wieso werden da immer noch Unterschiede gemacht? Wieso muss ich die Disc aus UK kommen lassen?
Ich kann mir den Film jetzt in tschechisch, griechisch etc. anschauen aber leider nicht in deutsch. Schade, das einige wenige darüber bestimmen was welches Land sehen darf und was nicht und das in einer Zeit, wo doch der Traum von einem Europa gelebt werden will.

Últimamente es raro encontrarse con mala calidad en los discos UHD y este no es la excepción.
La imagen es excelente, con mucho detalle especialmente (obviamente) en tomas con mas dialogo.
Los colores se ven vivos y con saturación suficiente sin llegar a ser exagerados. Contraste y brillo son excelentes.
El rango de bits ronda la mayoría del tiempo entre 50 y 60 megas, pero hay momentos donde subía a increíbles 80 megas.
El Sonido DTS-X es desgarrador y bien implementado. La escena de los mandriles puede ser usada como demostración. Las voces de los actores es clara y jamas es sobrepasada por la acción. Todo esta muy bien balanceado.
El disco es de Sony por lo que tiene la opción "IMAX Enhanced" pero en lo personal mi equipo no cuenta con dicha opción.

El Servicio de Amazon sin problemas, todo entregado en buen estado y en el tiempo correspondiente.

First up full marks must go to Random Space Media for releasing this film in the 3d Blu-ray format. Most major movie studios have abandoned the format for home video but strangely continue paying to have movies converted to 3D in post production then giving them very limited engagements in cinemas. This would appear to be a waste of money & resources. Why pay the extra production costs for 3D then not make the 3D version widely available? The list of films converted to 3d and not released on 3d Blu-ray is getting longer every month. And when it is released in 3d they only release it for one market (I’m looking at you Disney / Marvel who have released Black Widow in 3D for the Japanese market only). Rant over…
Jumanji The Next Level looks amazing in 3D and even though the story is a little stretched you can forgive any plot holes as the film is based on a computer game where truly anything can happen. The disc features outstanding picture quality, awesome HD sound and is recommended 3D viewing.
