We’ve known for a while now that Sidney Sweeney is happily engaged, and reportedly set be married by next spring—and still, little is known about the Euphoria actor’s soon-to-be husband, Jonathan Davino.

The two were photographed holding hands on an outing in the French Riviera this weekend during the Cannes Film Festival. The joint appearance came as a surprise, as Sweeney most often attends Hollywood events solo and keeps her relationship with Davino very private.

Sweeney has spoken of her decision to maintain privacy in her romantic life and stay away from dating within the industry. “I don’t date people in the spotlight,” she told Cosmopolitan in February 2022. “I don’t date actors or musicians or anyone in entertainment because I can just be normal Syd that way and it’s easiest.”

But ahead of their wedding, see everything we know about Davino and his love story with Sweeney.

He was first linked to Sweeney in 2018.

It remains unknown to the public exactly how Davino crossed paths with Sweeney, but he was first photographed out with her at an Emmys after-party at the NoMad hotel in Los Angeles. One month later, he was captured again with the actor as her official plus-one to a Kate Spade dinner at Spring Place.

He is a restaurateur.

Davino hails from a family that owned two since-folded Chicago restaurants, Mista Pizza and Pompeii Xpress, per Chicago Business. According to People and TMZ, he is also the owner of some vaporizer packaging companies, including 14th Round and Final Bell.

He is happy to be out of the spotlight.

Davino is more than content to support his high-profile fiancée from the sidelines. (See here for their PDA-filled day on the beach in Hawaii, where Davino accompanied Sweeney as she filmed The White Lotus season one.)

Sweeney has been openly appreciative of her fiancé’s unwavering support and flexibility around her acting career, having praised his open-mindedness and secure sense of self during her conversation with Cosmopolitan. “I have people who will battle for me,” she told the magazine, “and allow me to be on the pedestal and shine without making me feel like, ‘Oh no, I’m shining too bright and I need to step back.’”

She also referred to Davino as her “best friend,” adding, “I need to be able to be with someone who I can literally hang out with 24/7 and never get sick of and we laugh every single day.”
